Disney World is Finally Reopening and Here’s What’s New

Published on June 27, 2020

The wait is finally over. Disney World has finally released the dates on when it will re-open after the pandemic forced closures for the last couple of months. If you’re a Disney fanatic you’re probably excited that the happiest place on earth is finally opening up again, but now as we know it Disney will have to change up a few things once opening up.

If you don’t know, Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida has begun its process of reopening. It first opened its doors to Disney Springs in late May and now has begun to open its doors to different deluxe resorts and other resorts as well. Most of the resorts on Disney property have not reopened due to safety measures and trying to limit as many people coming in and out of the resorts as possible.

Since the opening of Disney Springs and some resorts, many speculate on what’s going to happen when the theme parks will open up. Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom will reopen on July 11th and Hollywood Studios and Epcot will reopen July 15th.

Everyone has different opinions about whether or not they agree with the parks re-opening or if they’re comfortable adhering to the new guidelines, but most people seem to be excited that the parks will be opening up once again.

Since the announcement about the opening of the on-site amenities, resorts and parks have seen many changes that are going to be put in place for the time being. Changes have been put into place like:

  • Wearing masks
  • Temperature checks
  • Limited contact
  • Cancelation of some shows
  • Cancellation of meet and greets

Disney will also not allow certain ticket tiers such as the park-hopper option which allowed guests to visit multiple parks in one day.

Guests have to reserve their park days as if they were reserving a table at a restaurant. Yes, it sounds like a lot but Disney is doing everything in their power to make sure guests and staff are safe.

With the new reservation system, guests will have to make reservations through the new Disney Park Pass System this is where guests will go to reserve time and dates to which parks they would like to visit throughout their stay. This system will keep track of who is entering the park on what days which will help keep track of numbers.

If you want to check out the full list of Walt Disney World updates (because their is a lot) then you can check them out here. Disney will also change its re-opening date for California’s Disneyland park amid growing concerns for the rise in case numbers in California in recent weeks. A new re-opening date has not been announced.
