Behind every property is a story that never quite fits on a contract: a household in transition, a family milestone, a business changing hands. Johnny Rodogiannis works from a different vantage point than most agents. The job does not end at the listing or the offer; it runs through every part of the transaction and reaches the people living it. Johnny understands that the best outcomes come when people have someone they can trust and when the whole process is approached as a team.

The Making of a Work Ethic

Johnny is Greek-American. His parents were born in Greece and came to America for the American dream. Born and raised in the Chicagoland area, Johnny has strong ties to the community. His family owned a restaurant. Johnny worked there from the young age of 11 until he moved into multimedia production at 18. At 23, another turn came: trading futures in the stock market. During that time, the family was changing course as well. The town his family restaurant had served for almost 30 years decided to expand the intersection, forcing his parents to pivot, tear down the restaurant, and redevelop the land. Helping them navigate this and their transition into real estate was a priority to him.

To help the family, Johnny got a real estate license and switched focus to real estate full time at 31. “My 20s were spent trading at night and training to fight MMA during the day,” Johnny recalls. “I was very disciplined in my 20s which translates to my work ethic now.”

Measured in Words of Praise

Johnny’s real estate career began at Main Street REG, a boutique independent firm run by friends. There, Johnny helped build the commercial offerings and was named VP of Commercial. Johnny is currently with Fulton Grace Realty, the brokerage that Main Street REG later merged with, and describes it as “10x the size” but still independently owned, with “more offerings and a larger support base.”

But ask Johnny about the biggest accomplishment so far, and the answer is not a title or a figure. It comes straight from clients. “My biggest accomplishment is the words of praise I get directly from my clients,” Johnny says. “I’ve helped people through family deaths, divorce and many other sensitive personal issues.” For Johnny, no accomplishment ranks higher than what clients say about the work.

Examples are not in short supply: “I can share story after story of times I went above and beyond for my clients.” Johnny has also helped sell commercial real estate with businesses, with the aim of improving the owners’ situation, and has matched them with the right buyer. Whether the setting is a bereavement in the family or a business sale, the aim is the same: a client left in a better situation.

A Wider Lens on the Market

Johnny describes the work as full service, involved in “all parts of the transaction,” with the aim of offering the best value. That breadth of involvement is matched by a breadth of background. “I add value with my broad range of experiences in finance, marketing, and flipping homes with my family,” Johnny explains. “I have a deep understanding of the market, neighborhood by neighborhood from the city to the suburbs.” Together, those threads give Johnny a view of the market that runs from the financial to the neighborhood level.

Independence is part of the picture, too. Johnny offers access to off-market properties that are not on Zillow or other major real estate websites. “As an independent agent, my loyalty is to my clients and not one company or another,” Johnny notes. The priority is plain: the client comes first.

Trust as the Starting Point

All of Johnny’s business comes from a network of friends, family, and referrals, and the clients within it vary. Some live out of state and have bought and sold with Johnny, “trusting me to be the boots on the ground.” Others are family members referred by friends, people who had previously been taken advantage of. More broadly, Johnny serves anyone who needs “a realtor with a wide range of info that will help curb issues before they arise.”

Johnny’s advice to clients is direct: “Work with someone you can trust, the process has the best outcome when it’s approached as a team.” In that view, trust opens the process, and teamwork carries it through.

What drives the work is simple. “I’m inspired by helping people and doing right by them,” Johnny shares. “Being able to see a deal through to the end and see my clients happy and in a better situation is very important to me.” Looking ahead, Johnny would like to own more real estate, keep helping people buy and sell, and grow with clients as they expand a real estate portfolio or move up into a second or third home. Learning more about real estate development is also on the list.

Hands-On Hobbies and Life Lessons

Beyond the transactions, Johnny’s hobbies include home renovation, DIY, and woodworking. Johnny observes that these interests “directly allow me to have insights most agents don’t have.” In other words, the pastimes inform the profession.

Reinvention has been a recurring theme: Johnny has switched career paths more than once out of a wish to help people more. “I haven’t had a smooth path but I’ve learned many things over the years,” Johnny reflects. “I use all my life lessons to serve my clients the best I can.” That path has run from the family restaurant through multimedia production and futures trading to real estate.

For Johnny Rodogiannis, real estate is about more than the deal itself. It is about helping people, doing right by them, and seeing a deal through to the end with the aim of leaving clients happy and in a better situation.
