‘Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood’ Wins Big at The Critics Choice Awards

Published on January 14, 2020

The Awards season is coming to a close. Just the other day, we saw the wild and ridiculous nominations for the Academy Awards. If you hadn’t heard, Joker is reigning supreme this year at the Oscars with more nominations than movies from Martin Scorsese (The Irishman), Sam Mendes (1917), Bong Joon-ho (Parasite), and Lulu Wang (The Farewell). Hollywood has gone mad just like Gotham.

Did you also hear the madness that Eddie Murphy and Adam Sandler were denied by the Oscars? They gave two of the most charismatic and hypnotic performances of the year… and no nominations for the funny men. Thankfully, The Critics Choice Awards is a little wiser or simply have better taste than the voters at the Academy Awards. Murphy, Sandler, and Awkwafina — three of the best performances of 2019 from three seriously funny people — were all recognized by the Critics Choice Awards. Their list of nominees doesn’t ‘cause panic and confusion, and neither does the list of winners:
