Stress has become a badge of honor in the American lifestyle. Entire industries have popped up to handle problems; weight loss, mental health, and countless other industries.
We work long hours, sleep very little and end up burnt out and wondering how we got here. To reach optimal wellness, there are a few things that we should be putting our attention on according to naturopathic physician Dr. Jannine Krause.
Sleep is Most Important
Sleep is vital, but when life gets busy its one of the first things to drop out. For a fast improvement to health, it’s one of the first things that should be done on a consistent schedule.
Many Americans are now using apps on their iPhone or their FitBit in order to monitor their sleep. Dr. Krause thins
“Well first and foremost, I’ve got to listen to myself. Because before I’d be like I’m tired, okay, you know I can sleep later. I don’t need that much sleep. I’m good, or I’d feel myself starting to get nervous and take a couple deep breaths and push on.
So you’ve got to look at those signals first. And if I see those signals, I know for sure. Okay, I’ve got to do something immediately right now.”

Remembering to Play
Are you listening to your inner five-year-old, just remembering to play?
A sure-fire way to have a stressful life is tor run yourself down without sleep and forget to play. However, culturally its become a badge of honor to continue running and forget to take care of ourselves
Dr. Jannine Krause learned the hard way by running herself down, not giving herself the care she was giving her patients.
Now, she knows sleep is a must and she always makes time for play in her day. Sometimes, days are getting tough she’ll take a break and make time to play; the dogs are grateful for this idea.
Play has a way of alleviating all those things that keep us tense in the day, making us more creative and helping us through when things get real
“Now in addition to that I always have every single day. There’s play time. No matter what. I look at my inner five year old and I go I have to play until I have two golden the dogs quite a bit and Oddly enough, that’s what I’ll do.
I’ll make sure that no matter what I’ve got 10 minutes and sometimes I’ll build up and see you in a half hour but I will make sure that no matter what there is 10 minutes scheduled every single day where I just play and like I said if I have signals that stuff getting real I am actually going to either cancel a couple things or try in between patients something to go and do a little play.”

Reduced Food Quality
Another battle we are constantly fighting is lowered food quality. Dr. Krause believes when a whole food source is not available, that is the time that supplementation is needed.
In fact, she believes that the right supplementation can even handle problems like acid reflux. A disease that can actually be caused by damaged stomach lining due to stress and an inferior diet.
A Decision to Impact
Dr. Krause is a doctor of naturopathic medicine, an acupuncturist and podcast host dedicated to empowering people to take charge of their own health. Her unique approach is simplifying natural medicine and healthy habit formation.
She believes that health starts with what we eat, how we move and how well we manage stress. She wants to help prevent little health issues from becoming big ones down the road.
She’s committed to slowing down the aging process and wants to help others with this too. There’s a lot of health information available out there, and she’s here to help people focus on what’s important and sustainable for them.
