Ginger King knew growing up that she wanted to be an entrepreneur. However, as an Asian American, she grew up in a culture where she was expected to be a doctor, a lawyer, or another white-collar job.
She didn’t look at these constraints at something hold her back, rather she looked at a way to be more creative. When Ginger King, decided to pursue a career in cosmetics, she went to school for chemistry. She decided whatever products she created would be the best in the world. By focusing on building expertise and an undeniable portfolio, Ginger knew she would reach her entrepreneurship dream.
Build World-Class Expertise
Ginger dove into working with some of the top cosmetics brands in the world. She has previously held management positions with Barnet Products Corporation, ChemAid Laboratories, Freeze 24/7 International, Avon Products Inc, Joico laboratories and Jason Natural Cosmetics. Ginger has also received numerous corporate awards for thinking out of the box claims, cost savings and leadership.
Before long, Ginger’s work appeared in some of the top places in the cosmetics industry. She was quoted as one of the 26 top beauty magazines such as Allure, Self, Marie Claire, Harpers Bazaar, Shape, Teen Vogue and Women’s Health. Ginger has served as Allure’s Beauty Judge for Breakthrough Products since 2017 and Yahoo’s Diversity In Beauty Award 2018 and beauty packaging award 2019.
“I knew very early on, just a good product is not going to get me anywhere. You need to know marketing, you need to have total business aspects. So while I was majoring in chemistry, I had a minor in marketing. I understood how you need to sell your products. Otherwise, it’s not really going to be benefiting society.
In order to really experience the beauty, the business side is very important. This is the reason why I keep working on myself. I invest in myself with various business classes even after I graduate.”

A Good Product Isn’t Good Enough
Just a good product isn’t good enough; just ask the ones that didn’t make it.
However, she also minored in marketing and her MBA, because she instinctively knew that she needed to create demand for her products. Why? Even great products don’t sell themselves.
If no one knows about your product, then no one can buy it; world-class products still need world-class sales and marketing or they will also litter the graveyard of products past.
Products don’t sell, marketers create want for them and salespeople sell them. That lesson has been the biggest one that Ginger has learned in her life and continues to push forward to this day.
The Right Idea from a “Shark”
A conversation with former Shark Tank star, Daymond John, made Ginger think twice about a new product. Most people don’t consider the needs of a speaker; they get a stage, a mic and maybe some slides. However, the most difficult thing may be continuing to speak when their lips dry out.
Ginger’s latest venture is creating her own beauty brand – FanLoveBeauty dedicated to people who inspire, educate and entertain the society. The first collection will be for speakers, which is inspired by her mentor Daymond John, the business mogul and Shark Tank Star.
She aims to empower speakers by providing them with the first-ever 100% vegan natural lip balm full of superfoods and special sea asparagus to keep people who talk a lot lips moist and smooth to nail talks, meetings and negotiations.
