Hall & Oates Announce 2020 Summer Tour

Published on January 21, 2020

Hall & Oates truly never get old. While their pop music definitely reflects their time, there’s a gracefulness and modernism to their pop melodies that’s not that far off from what we hear on the radio today. Daryl Hall & John Oates, whose personal relationship hasn’t always been as magical as their music, are thankfully hitting the road again this summer with their tunes that continue to endure. Years ago, they toured with Tears for Fears for an epic double-bill, but this time, they’re still impressing with supporting acts Squeeze and KT Turnstall. It’s one of the many, many tours not to miss this summer.

Shut Up and Play the Hits

“Maneater,” “You Make My Dreams,” “Rich Girl,” and “Private Eyes,” expect to hear all the hits on Hall & Oates latest tour. They have no reason not to play them, unless if they simply don’t want to again, but they know what fans are paying to hear. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Oates confirmed he’ll always play the classics for a crowd of happy fans:

I feel a professional responsibility to play the songs that people want to hear. They are the songs that have made us who we are. We have a lot of them. The only problem is we have too many of them, but that’s a problem that many artists would love to have.

Hall added:

A few years back we had a big show where we didn’t play ‘Private Eyes’ for some reason. People got pissed off. They got angry at us. You can’t do that. You have to play these songs.

Supporting Acts

The tour officially starts in May and wraps up at the beginning of September. For the summer tour, Squeeze and KT Tunstall are along for the journey. Tunstall is an artist Daryl Hall promotes and works with any chance he gets. Years ago, he collaborated with the singer on “Live From Daryl’s House” and loved what he heard from her. He’s a big supporter of Turtnstall’s voice, which has produced delight tuns such as “Suddenly I See.” As for Squeeze, Oates believes they have their own unique electric sound that’ll play well with the band and their fans. The three bands should make for a wonderful, light-hearted night of music.
