From Intern to Global Trade Leader: Carmine V. Iorio’s Rise in Paper

Published update on December 4, 2025

Carmine V. Iorio is the senior vice president of tissue at Cellmark Inc., a global company that connects producers and customers with access to markets and raw materials. He is an expert in international trade in paper and pulp manufacturing and distribution, specializing in raw materials, towel tissue, napkins, and bath tissue.

An Early Start in Paper

Laying the foundation for his career, Iorio earned an associate degree in business administration and management from Finger Lakes Community College and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Coker University. A scholarship athlete, he played NCAA Division II baseball in college. His determination helped him juggle his studies and athletic commitments, while also spending time with his fiancé and baby daughter, who lived with him. Iorio now has a wonderful family of six, including his four children, Arianna, Elahn, Carmine, Enzo, and his wife, Catrina.

After graduation, Iorio interned at a company where he earned less than the minimum wage. It was later, when the Iorios were expecting their second child, that he searched for a better-paying job and found one at Wausau Paper, which, in addition to a much higher salary, offered a company car. He applied and, after three long months of interviews, received the job.

Iorio was an account executive at Wausau Paper for four years, during which time he sold paper towel dispensers and other products. His sales territory encompassed the entire state of New York, and this job set the foundation for his career in the industry.

While at Wausau Paper, Iorio also became professionally certified by Huthwaite International, a global sales training company that specializes in sales effectiveness, negotiation skills, and customer relationship management training. He also earned inclusion in the “Winners Circle” in 2014 as a top sales representative.

Building on a Foundation of Excellence

Other roles Iorio held during his 12-year career include East Coast director of sales for American Paper Converting, North American sales manager for Woodland Pulp LLC, and director of tissue division for Central National Gottesman Inc. He joined Cellmark Inc. in 2023 as the senior vice president overseeing the paper division, where he still serves today.

Among  Iorio’s duties in this capacity are interacting with chief executive officers, other vice presidents, and senior buyers, along with overseeing a team that works globally. He is personable by nature and believes in being authentic in his interactions with people, striving to treat everyone with equal respect.

Despite starting the tissue division two years ago, Cellmark has seen double-digit growth each year. Iorio has worked diligently with his team to achieve an estimated $150 million in sales for the division by the end of 2025, with future projections for 2026 ranging into $200 million.

An Eye on the Future

In the upcoming years, Iorio’s goal is for Cellmark to become the leading trader in towel and tissue products worldwide. This mission is not without challenges, not the least of which is the introduction of tariffs and their potential impact on shortages.

“The tariffs are going to change everything. The price of the products is going to start going up, but I don’t think we’re in threat of shortage yet,” Iorio says.

For his expertise and excellence in global trade, Iorio was included in the Marquis Who’s Who registry in July 2025 and was additionally honored as a Top Professional.
