Currently serving as vice president of Palmer Properties LLC, Jimmy Palmer continues a family tradition in real estate finance. With two decades of professional experience, he works alongside his father and brother, Aki, to build their company’s portfolio while managing its construction, leasing, and acquisition divisions. Today, Palmer is committed to building lasting business relationships and supporting his community.
Origins of Palmer Properties
Palmer’s story begins with his parents, Greek immigrants who moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, in the 1970s. Together, they opened a small flower shop. As it grew, Palmer’s father invested in a few commercial retail and office properties, which helped him get started in real estate. By the time Palmer and his brother could attend college, their father had accumulated over 50,000 square feet in his portfolio.
Early Education and Real Estate Experience
Given the option to enter the flower shop or study real estate, both Palmer and his brother enrolled at college. For his part, Palmer completed a bachelor’s degree in business real estate finance and construction management at the University of Denver in 2006. After graduating, he and his brother returned to work at Palmer Properties.
At the same time, Palmer and his brother worked as real estate broker associates at Real Tech Commercial Real Estate. Together, they formed a tie-in with Cassidy Turley Real Estate. By 2007, they had each earned their broker’s license. While working at Cassidy Turley Real Estate, the brothers also established the firm’s Northern Colorado branch in 2011, which would later become Cushman & Wakefield. Palmer remained with this group until 2018.
Notable Achievements and Lasting Growth
During his work at Cassidy Turley Real Estate and Cushman & Wakefield, Palmer served as the director and principal at Palmer Properties. By the time he left Cushman & Wakefield in 2018, he had helped to grow his family’s property holdings from 50,000 square feet to approximately 925,000 square feet of retail and office space. In 2024, Palmer was appointed as vice president of Palmer Properties.
Today, Palmer is the largest landowner in Fort Collins, Colorado, and is responsible for leasing and acquisitions at Palmer Properties. Together with his father and brother, he has built an enduring legacy in real estate. This attitude toward legacy is reflected in one of Palmer’s most notable achievements: the successful rehabilitation of the historic Avery Building in the City of Fort Collins.
Outside of his professional achievements, Palmer is actively involved in several civic and membership organizations. He is a board member of The Family Center/La Familia and the South Fort Collins Business Association. He is additionally a supporter of Respite Care and a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
Plans for the Future
Within the next five to 10 years, Palmer has the simple ambition to make each year better than the last. He aims to accomplish this by continuing to grow Palmer Properties and build strong business relationships with trusted partners. Personally, he hopes to build a family and spend more time with friends and loved ones, navigating uncertainty with confidence.
