After an accident, paperwork quickly becomes the focus. The part that breaks people is the silence: unanswered emails, long gaps, and the sense that a case moves only when you chase it.

Lawrence Kajy, founder and managing attorney of Kajy Law Firm, PLLC, built his firm to exclusively handle personal injury cases involving car, truck, and motorcycle accidents. He believes clients deserve consistent communication, clear explanations, and dignity throughout the resolution of their situation. For Kajy, it starts with returning calls.

Michigan Roots, and a Reason to Care

Kajy grew up and built his life in Michigan. He ties his work to the people around him, not an abstract ‘legal process.’ The lawyer earned his undergraduate degree at Wayne State University and later completed law school at the University of Detroit Mercy.

During those years, Kajy spent a good portion of his time studying Michigan’s no-fault insurance structure, writing about it, and testing his arguments through Moot Court, where he received a pass with distinction.

Kajy recalls, “The most meaningful lessons came from real people, injured, overwhelmed, and often forgotten by the system.”

The Moment That Made the Job Personal

Before opening his own firm, Kajy worked in Detroit, processing cash settlements for accident victims.

He explains, “I’ll never forget the look on people’s faces when they realized that after months, or even years, of silence from their attorneys, this small check was all they were getting.”

What bothered him was the gap between what clients expected and what they received after being left in the dark.

Choosing a Different Kind of Firm

Kajy is blunt about what he saw around him.

“Many firms prioritize volume over quality. They limit communication, understaff cases, and rely on quick settlements to maximize profit.”

Then, Kajy decided to invest in time and staffing.

“I made a conscious decision to go against that model,” he says. “I invested heavily in building a strong team, hiring more attorneys, paralegals, and professionals, so no client would ever feel ignored or rushed.”

In practice, that means clients hear from the team regularly, even when there’s no significant progress to report.

Prepared for Trial, Even Early On

Kajy centers preparation as a form of respect. He notes that every case is prepared like it’s going to trial, because, as he says, “That’s how you show insurance companies and clients that you’re serious.”

That approach asks more of a team, but it can also lower the emotional temperature for the person waiting on answers. When a case is carefully built, clients are less likely to feel stuck guessing.

Communication as Dignity

Kajy doesn’t pretend clients always show up calm.

He explains, “When someone comes to Kajy Law after an accident, they’re often scared, overwhelmed, and unsure who to trust.”

Kajy’s response leans on regular check-ins and transparent explanations, even when there’s no significant development. He emphasizes the firm’s consistent client contact and the reason they explain every step of the process: “People deserve to understand what’s happening in their case and why.”

Growth Without Losing the Point

Kajy has been recognized for his work, including being named a National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 and a Super Lawyers Rising Star.

Yet Kajy is clear about what he values most.

“Still, the accomplishments that matter most to me don’t come with plaques or titles,” he says. “They come from the thousands of clients my team and I have helped reclaim their lives, their confidence, and their future after serious injuries.”

Looking ahead, Lawrence Kajy expects Kajy Law to continue growing, but never at the expense of its values.
