Mohit Sheera: Using Medical Technology to Forward the Future

Published on August 25, 2026

Mohit Sheera, the strategic planning leader at Terumo BCT, has built a career around using technology to improve not only patient outcomes but also the broader medical environment that cares for them. He uses a combination of data-driven market intelligence and hands-on commercial execution to help companies navigate complex change while keeping the most important goal in sight: improving patient care.

The Power of a Global Education

Sheera’s leadership style is the direct result of his blend of engineering and business education. He began his education at the Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology in Delhi, India, earning a Bachelor of Engineering in electronics and communication in 2002. Later, he decided to broaden his leadership skills through a Master of Business Administration program.

In 2013, Sheera graduated from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, while also broadening his global perspective by completing an MBA exchange program at China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in Shanghai. He feels the experience provided him with the perspective needed to lead large-scale initiatives across global markets.

Pursuing a Career in Medical Technology

Before Sheera joined Terumo BCT in 2025, he spent more than a decade at Zimmer Biomet, where he used his leadership skills to solve a variety of difficult business problems. One notable case came when an important vendor for the sports medicine division unexpectedly closed. Sheera stepped in to coordinate manufacturing, logistics and sales teams around the world and established a new operating model centered on integrated decision-making from production to global distribution, helping hospitals and patients avoid delays or missed surgeries during the crisis.

Throughout his career, Sheera has worked across global markets, shaping business and operating models to address differing commercial, customer and organizational needs. His experience spans general management, P&L responsibility, commercial leadership, strategy, market intelligence, marketing and operating transformation. He has also overseen business portfolios and complex cross-functional initiatives. His contributions to the field include a 2025 co-authored paper entitled “The Rise of Robotics in Orthopedics,” which examines how automation is changing surgical standards.

One of Sheera’s main goals has been to address the “information lag” in the medical device industry. Historically, companies have operated on data that can be up to 18 months old, making it hard to understand the real-time market trends for patient needs. Through his commercial leadership, he has guided industry partners to shorten this delay to just two or three months. Currently, he is working to use artificial intelligence, combined with his experience in market strategy, to speed up the adoption of new technologies so that medical advancements reach the patients who need them much faster than in the past.

Mentorship and Personal Pursuits

Sheera credits his personal success to the support of his mentors Ivan Tornos, Orsa Britton, Sean O’Hara, and Nnamdi Njoku. He believes that the most successful leaders are those who look beyond their specific job descriptions to better understand how the entire work landscape functions. When not in his office, Sheera enjoys traveling with family.
