Hai Phong is launching a comprehensive trade promotion initiative aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs, fostering business development, and expanding market reach. The City Women’s Union and the Department of Industry and Trade have formalized a cooperation plan for trade promotion spanning 2026 to 2035. This marks the first such initiative nationwide, highlighting the City Women’s Union’s adaptive and innovative approach to its tasks.
The plan includes extensive training and networking opportunities. It aims to train 500 businesses, cooperatives, production and trading establishments, and individual women entrepreneurs. Training will cover crucial areas such as trade promotion, market development, brand building, product enhancement, design and packaging improvements, and traceability. Additionally, the initiative will organize 20 market networking events, exhibitions, trade promotion activities, and product showcases specifically for women entrepreneurs and businesses.
A significant component of the plan focuses on digital market integration. Support will be provided to 400 women-led businesses, cooperatives, and production and trading establishments to promote, introduce, connect with, and sell their specialized products on digital platforms. The initiative also prioritizes supporting at least 20 products with strong potential to be featured in supermarkets, shopping malls, distribution businesses, and other modern distribution channels, including e-commerce platforms.

Comrade Nguyen Khac Toan, Vice Chairman of the City People’s Council, emphasized the importance of translating the cooperation plan into concrete actions with clear timelines and measurable targets. He urged regular reviews and evaluations to ensure effectiveness, address challenges promptly, and prevent superficial implementation. The Department of Industry and Trade will provide specialized support in trade promotion and market information, while the City Women’s Union will focus on identifying needs and selecting suitable business models for women.
Comrade Tran Thu Huong, President of the City Women’s Union, highlighted the focus on production and business efficiency, with a particular emphasis on market access. Priority will be given to supporting products such as OCOP (One Commune One Product) items, handicrafts, and processed agricultural and aquatic products. The initiative seeks to strengthen direct connections between businesses and modern distribution systems, promote digital transformation and e-commerce adoption, and enhance packaging, labeling, and traceability for women’s products.
The program aims to cultivate women’s product groups that possess quality, brand recognition, reliable supply chains, and potential for market expansion. The long-term vision is to develop production and business models that allow women entrepreneurs to engage more deeply in domestic supply and value chains, with aspirations for eventual entry into international markets. This effort includes facilitating connections between distribution businesses and women-owned production and business entities, opening avenues for collaboration and market expansion.
The organizing committee will actively connect distribution businesses with women producers and business owners. This strategic linkage is designed to foster stronger collaborations, leverage complementary strengths across different regions, and introduce local products to new consumer bases. The initiative represents a concerted effort to bolster the economic participation and success of women entrepreneurs in Hai Phong.
