Rocio Luna has spent the past nine years gaining expertise in the insurance industry. As a client adviser at Acrisure LLC and founder of Rocio Insurance Services, she stands at the intersection of insurance strategy and human connection. Few professionals are as dialed into the pulse of contractors’ needs as Luna. Her expertise is helping businesses manage risks and the associated costs. Every claim she walks a client through is more than a transaction — it’s another opportunity to ease someone’s burden.
Solving Problems the Industry Can’t Ignore
The construction and staffing sectors face surging insurance premiums and evolving coverage demands. “One thing that all employers should know is the rise of insurance premiums and how to properly manage loss control to control claims and, obviously, premiums,” Luna says.
In construction, a single injury can derail a business. Additionally, insurance can feel like a maze for contractors, especially smaller agencies. Luna guides them by helping to minimize risk, manage claims, and build long-term resilience. “I have a passion for helping contractors and agencies with risk management,” she says.
A Career Built From the Ground Up
Luna’s journey didn’t begin in an executive suite. It started when she took over a claims management role at age 22. Determined to rise through the ranks, she immersed herself in the complexities of insurance.
Years later, Luna enhanced her skill set by earning certification as a Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) from the International Risk Management Institute Inc. (IRMI). Additionally, she obtained credentials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training and California workers’ compensation claims certifications. Her drive to strengthen her knowledge base equipped her with the technical know-how to support her empathetic, hands-on approach.
Most people would have doubted that someone so young could become a competent leader. This sentiment is especially true in an industry without a significant representation of women and minorities. Nevertheless, Luna’s success didn’t come from shortcuts. It came from heart, hustle, and humility. She has held high-impact roles across California involving the construction and staffing sectors.
More Than a Job
While Luna has earned multiple titles and accolades, including the Rise Award and recognition among the Top 35 Under 35 in Insurance, it is those close to her who have influenced her to desire to excel.
Luna’s aunt, Matilde, raised her and instilled in her niece a never-quit mindset. She also acknowledges Marshall Wilkinson’s mentorship. With his coaching, she sharpened her focus as a business leader. As a result, she isn’t just selling policies; she’s building safety nets for those who most need them.
Impact Beyond the Office
Luna’s aim to help people extends beyond insurance. She’s actively involved in efforts like Rebuild Homes for Children in Mexico. She is also engaged with professional groups like the National Association of Women in Construction and the National Hispanic Construction Association.
Luna’s home life centers around her husband, their English bulldog, and their shared entrepreneurial spirit. While her calendar includes business goals, Luna also makes room for regular date nights. Meanwhile, the couple has aspirations of building a family.
Over the next decade, Luna hopes to triple her book of business, lead a sales team, and elevate Acrisure’s construction department to new heights. “God has given you another chance in life,” she says. “You can always remake yourself and be a better person.” It’s a message she hopes others, especially Hispanic women, will take away from her story.
