If you had the pleasure of attending ETHDenver, a community-run conference organized by a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) of token-holder members, I am sure you also felt the electrifying atmosphere as passionate innovators presented their inspiring projects.

The collective enthusiasm and energy were palpable, making for an unforgettable experience.

While some of the typical elements of crypto conferences were present at ETHDenver, such as the beloved Dogecoin car (which I admit has a certain kitschy charm), the remnants of the ICO era and personalities like SBF seemed to have been left behind. This signals a new chapter in the industry, with a focus on fresh ideas and innovative projects that are making a real impact.

ETHDenver was a glimpse into the future of blockchain – and it was exhilarating to witness.

Cringe – But the Good Kind

Crypto conferences have earned a reputation for their frequent cringey moments, with attention-grabbing stunts and antics that can sometimes make attendees feel a bit awkward. However, innovation requires us to step out of our comfort zone.

I personally loved the inflatable unicorns and the claw machines. I even met someone in a full Tiger King get-up. As a self-proclaimed “TradFi native gal,” I opted for jeans and a suit jacket instead of the full suit (#rebel). This still made me one of the more conservatively-dressed attendees.

While the long lines and overpriced food were typical of festival-like events, I lucked out and paid only $10 for my meal, thanks to MyEtherWallet (MEW). At their booth, I even met someone sporting the same Wolf & Badger earrings as me, a small but meaningful connection that added to the overall experience.

Despite the quirks and chaos of crypto conferences, it’s the novel in-person human connections and moments of unexpected camaraderie that make them memorable and worthwhile.

Builders Want to Build

At ETHDenver, I witnessed a remarkable display of community spirit among the real builders of the Ethereum network. This was undoubtedly one of the “nerdiest” conferences I’ve ever attended. I found it to be absolutely thrilling.

If you listen to the cynics, you will hear crypto is experiencing serious growing pains while AI, the “new” kid on the block, seems to have taken the world by storm.

While applications like ChatGPT may be causing a stir, we should be asking ourselves how this will help our jobs. How can blockchain enhance it all? How can AI meet blockchain?

Nobody should underestimate the power of crypto and blockchain, particularly within the Ethereum community. They remain steadfast in their dedication to their ecosystem and are not easily swayed by shiny distractions.

At ETHDenver, I witnessed firsthand the passion and creativity that drive this community forward. It left me feeling energized and inspired.

Meeting of the (Best) Minds

ETHDenver is the ultimate gathering for those truly invested in the world of blockchain and crypto. It’s a rare opportunity for key industry players to come together, share intelligence, and expand their knowledge base.

Simply put: it’s a meeting of the best minds in the game.

The panel discussions were nothing short of captivating, while the booths showcased some of the most impressive projects in the industry. The conversations were electric, sparking new ideas and exciting collaborations.

Despite naysayers who claim crypto is all but dead, the builders at ETHDenver came and delivered. Their commitment to BUIDLing was anything but cryptic, and their A-game was on full display.

In a world that’s constantly evolving, ETHDenver is a beacon of innovation and a testament to the power of the community.

At ETHDenver Women Finally Got Kudos

Personally, I was very impressed with how many women-focused events ETHDenver offered. The gathering paid homage to those that are changing the industry, something that women have not always experienced in technology.

Kudos, ETHDenver.

What’s Next?

So, what’s next for ETHDenver?

After its sixth and most successful year, it seems the founders plan to take their show on the road – literally. ETHDever co-founder John Paller indicated satellite events are coming. This is excellent news for the Ethereum community, with more opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and growth around the block.

ETHDenver is not just a conference. It’s proving to be a movement.
