Meet Allie Xu, podcaster, expert practitioner of Chinese Medicine, pharmacist, and founder of Global Pharmacy Entrepreneurs. She is one of those exceptionally lovely people who genuinely think about others before she thinks about herself. Make no mistake, she’s learned to establish boundaries over the years because she’s had to – but in doing so, she’s opened up her thinking so that it’s no longer constrained. Xu doesn’t think small anymore. Her grand vision to unite pharmacists and healthcare workers around a platform of humanity and kindness is resonating with people around the globe.
We want to bring all of healthcare together with creatives and education around empathy, connection, and openness to collaborate for the betterment of people. We have so much knowledge and education is some parts of the world, but we need to bring that to everyone in the world.
Allie Xu, founder of Global Pharmacy Entrepreneurs and Unicorn Fart Media
Xu recognizes that Australia, where she’s lived since she emigrated there as a teen from China, is far ahead of other countries with respect to managing through the devastation inflicted by COVID, but it’s not out of the woods. She is highly attuned to the level of stress in healthcare workers around the globe; everyone is emotionally exhausted and physically depleted after caring for so many sick people for so long. “The healthcare system has been so overwhelmed that doctors can no longer give the same standard of care,” lamented Xu. “If we invested more in prevention, we’d have more time to care for the sick.”
When asked for her best tip for the next generation of women in STEM, Xu offered this, “It takes a lot of courage to speak up and that’s when you begin to release the emotions that you’re holding inside. Be authentic, be real to yourself and your own journey. Self-love and self-care is so important, you need to listen to that little girl’s voice, nurture her and protect her.”
