Russell Nicolet, who is known as The Midwest’s Lawyer, has received national recognition as a top trial lawyer in Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Iowa. However, his greatest accomplishments have come from securing justice and results for the people who employ him as a personal injury lawyer.
Nicolet’s passion for justice, as well as helping people through difficult situations, is integral to his personal philosophy. His goal in every case is not only to help clients get into a better position, but also to earn them the compensation they deserve for the personal injuries they suffer as a result of negligence.
Challenges of Being the First Trial Lawyer in His Family
One of Nicolet’s greatest challenges in studying to be a lawyer came from being the first in his family to go to law school. Given that he had no idea what to expect and no idea how to make it work, he says he “just went for it.”
During his time in law school, Nicolet worked as an intern for a public defender’s office, as a law clerk for a judge in Minnesota, and as a law clerk for a local attorney. These experiences throughout the early part of his career would build his knowledge, as well as the incentive to expand further.
This ambition would eventually inspire him to start his firm, Nicolet Law, in 2007 as a one-person law office. The small, one-room office in Hudson, Wisconsin, was always meant to be a starting point. The next decade would bring more lawyers, additional offices, and further expertise for Nicolet Law.
Building Upon Justice to Help Others
Nicolet Law, which has grown to four states as of 2025, was built upon the idea of helping others. This passion for justice, as well as the drive to serve clients across the Midwest, has made Nicolet a regional name throughout the Midwest.
Despite this growth, Nicolet says that he is most proud of the excellent people that he works to represent.
“We will not stop growing and not stop fighting for those people,” Nicolet says. “Everyone who works [at Nicolet Law] feels and understands that what we do is not only a job, but a calling to help, serve, and stand up for those who need it most.”
Future Aspirations for Nicolet Law and Beyond
Within the next few years, Nicolet sees his firm growing and continuing to represent the injured in the Midwest, as well as hold insurance companies and large corporations accountable for those injuries.
Nicolet also aspires to continue helping future lawyers with scholarships for education, as well as community outreach, all to help further serve the people who call the Midwest their home.
