Since the pandemic, people have flocked toward remote work opportunities. Many companies have even transitioned some or all of their workforce into remote positions. Remote is making it easier for remote workers and hirers on a global scale. Global hiring, localized benefits, and payroll that matches an employee’s local currency are some of the ways the platform makes life easier. To learn more about the company and its recent funding round, read the article below.

I am excited and proud today to announce Remote’s $300 million Series C round, led by SoftBank with participation from existing investors Accel, Sequoia, Index Ventures, Two Sigma Ventures, General Catalyst, and Gaingels.

Remote’s growth since last year has been incredible. Our globally distributed team now includes more than 900 people in over 65 countries all over the world — a 900% increase in team size over the last 12 months. Because of their efforts, Remote’s has become the fastest-growing employer of record in the world. It is thanks to the international diversity of our team and the strength of our asynchronous, fully remote culture that Remote has been able to reach this milestone today.

My hope is that Remote’s trajectory as a fully distributed company will inspire other businesses to explore the value of international talent. Because we can hire from anywhere, we are able to attract and retain a diverse range of highly qualified professionals from wherever they happen to live. Building a company with diversity and inclusivity at the core means people of all backgrounds and perspectives are constantly powering our innovation.

We are tremendously proud to facilitate opportunities for people across the globe to pursue big dreams. With this Series C funding, we will be able to unlock even more possibilities for our customers and their growing international teams.

Adding new countries, services, and partners

Remote has been busy since raising our Series B and becoming a unicorn company last year.

For starters, we have opened our employer of record services in several new countries. You can see the complete list of places where we help companies employ workers in our Country Explorer. We also currently help businesses pay and manage independent contractors everywhere in the world.

The Remote API recently left beta with its official launch in March of 2022. This is a huge milestone, allowing businesses to integrate with the Remote API and offer our employer of record services directly through their own platforms. As more businesses take advantage of international hiring, allowing HR, payroll, and other companies in this space to provide global employment capabilities directly to their customers will be essential.

We have also spent much of the last year leveraging our global footprint to help those in need. Remote has been working diligently to assist all those who have been affected by the war in Ukraine, especially through our Remote for Refugees and Remote Relocation programs. We will continue to build upon these programs and explore new initiatives that will allow us to be a force for positive change.

Building a foundation of global growth for all

Remote’s growth to this point would not have been possible without our incredible team of people from all across the planet. This funding will not only allow us to continue scaling our global operations, but will also help us empower other companies looking to follow the same path.

In breaking down barriers to international talent, we remain committed to helping create a world in which opportunities are not limited by geography. The last few years have been exciting, but our mission to unlock access to great employment is still in its early stages. I look forward to sharing more with you about Remote and our new projects and partnerships in the days ahead.
