World-renowned scholar Professor Felix Kaputu releases Congo-Kinshasa: 65 Ans en Dérives, a landmark analysis that confronts 65 years of crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo and charts a pragmatic path from critique to construction.
Drawing from decades of interdisciplinary research and field evidence, Kaputu unpacks systemic leadership failures, colonial residues, and the instrumentalization of identity. Engaging Fanon, Mbembe, Ricœur, Mamdani, and Bayart, the book centers lived Congolese realities while spotlighting a contemporary pivot: the 2025 “Dodekaprogramme” introduced by former President Joseph Kabila. Rather than treating Kabila as a relic of authoritarianism, Kaputu interrogates the program’s policy contours as a possible blueprint for ethical, inclusive governance.
“This is not just a political analysis—it is a document of civic awakening,” said Kaputu. “It’s time to shift from critique to construction.”
Released this summer, Congo-Kinshasa: 65 Ans en Dérives blends theory, history, and on-the-ground insights into an accessible roadmap for rethinking power, responsibility, and social healing in one of Africa’s most complex nations.
