NuSpecies Says Herbal Medicine Has a Proof Problem, Not a Marketing Problem

Aston Farquharson founded NuSpecies, a New York corporation headquartered in Pawling, New York, that makes raw, natural, organic formulas that are 99 percent liquid. He came to the industry from law and enterprise technology, not pharmacy or clinical nutrition. He started as a contracting attorney at Fried Frank, working on global corporate M&A deals, then moved to IBM Legal as a Contracts Negotiation Executive, leading and co-leading negotiations on global outsourcing deals.

At IBM, he says, he spotted early weak points in global digital contract workflows: an electronic signature is only as secure as the system that hosts it. He says he led teams of US IBM Research software engineers, global IBM executives, and global IBM lawyers to build what he calls a breakthrough, tamper-evident digital contracting system. That system institutionalized IBM’s first global legal e-signature Contracts Online platforms, which IBM also made available to its clients worldwide. He was the lead inventor on the three resulting patents. Public patent records list him first among ten inventors on the earliest, U.S. Patent 7,363,509, granted April 22, 2008, for executing contracts inside a secure computer infrastructure. IBM also filed the invention in Europe and Japan. The patent is classified under physics. The other two, U.S. Patent 7,971,068 and U.S. Patent 8,275,670, were granted on June 28, 2011, and September 25, 2012.

“A lot of this industry sells a story before it sells a result,” Farquharson says. “I wanted to flip that order. Test it first, then talk about it.”

His reason for starting the company was personal. Farquharson’s father suffered from stage 4 prostate cancer before the disease took his life, and Farquharson says watching that suffering is the main reason he founded NuSpecies. His mother went through many amputations before she died from complications of diabetes. Her illness is what pushed him to leave IBM and the practice of law to run NuSpecies full time.

A Crowded Category

The US herbal supplements market was valued at 12.29 billion US dollars in 2025 and is projected to reach 13.29 billion US dollars in 2026, according to MarkNtel Advisors.

The concepts behind NuSpecies date back about 30 years, and manufacturing began about 22 years ago. Since then, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, certified dietitians, nutritionists, and life coaches have administered NuSpecies formulas to tens of thousands of clients. The company waited for that record to build before it brought medical doctors on staff. Farquharson calls the result “NuSpecies Proven.”

“I am not saying everyone else is doing it wrong,” he says. “I am saying I am not willing to do it any other way, even when it slows us down.”

What Proof Looks Like on the Label

NuSpecies makes its formulas in the United States, cold-processes them so they stay raw, and uses organic and wild-crafted ingredients. Every product is certified under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and tested by a third-party lab using high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC). Every ingredient appears on the FDA’s Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) list.

Where The Company Draws the Line

NuSpecies markets its formulas as whole-food ingredients rather than treatments for any named condition. Farquharson says the company has never filed a health claim with regulators.

He applies the same line to his writing. He has spent 30 years developing a body of work he calls the NuSpecies SDAE Canon, short for Singularity Dual-Aspect Emergence, which includes a book called The Mathematics Of Becoming. The NuSpecies SDAE Canon came out of more than 20 years of working directly with and interviewing tens of thousands of chronically sick clients. He also credits his mother’s sacred spirituality and the NuSpecians, his name for the people who use the company’s formulas. The Canon describes health in two dimensions: the Outer, meaning physical structure, from the body to the planet, and the Inner, meaning a person’s energy, experience, and awareness.

He is direct that the equations in the NuSpecies SDAE Canon are not empirically proven. The books build on established science where it exists and shift into what he calls NuSpecies SDAE Metaphysics only where science has no answer.

From Human Health to Global Health

The formulas were his first invention, aimed at human health. He then turned to global health, engineering alternative energy prototypes under the NuPlanet name, including wind, solar, and other machines. Two of his designs have received US patents: an alternative energy generator and a self-powered alternative energy machine to generate electricity. The patents describe stationary metal coils and rare-earth magnets arranged above, below, and alongside a rotating plate, so that turning a geared shaft spins the magnets past the coils to produce current.

Faraday’s law of induction holds that a changing magnetic field through a coil produces electric current. Farquharson says surrounding the rotor with magnetic fields on every side increases the area where moving flux crosses the coils, so the machine draws more current from every degree of rotation, and that isolating the rotating assembly cuts drag and heat loss. The patents describe the design; they do not measure its output.

He sees the machine as support for the NuSpecies SDAE framework, which treats human health, physics, and clean energy as one connected system. He compares the generator’s closed loop to the mitochondria inside human cells, which pass electrons along a chain of enzymes to make ATP, the body’s energy currency. In his view, whether the system is a contract platform, a generator, or a cell, its power comes from getting every part working together and removing friction. He describes the NuPlanet goal as giving humanity enough energy to defend the planet against an extinction-level asteroid, and he would rather keep testing than release a machine before it works reliably.

Whether NuSpecies’ approach scales beyond its loyal, word-of-mouth customer base is still unproven. The next real test, he says, will come in the New York metro area, where many of his customers already live and where the company counts Bronxville, in Westchester County, among its premier locations. Until then, the formulas earn their record with clients before the company talks about them publicly.
