Benjamin “Ben” Dobbs, founder of T.R.U.E. Addiction & Behavioral Health, is a changemaker in the behavioral healthcare industry. Hailing from Tennessee, Ben’s life has been shaped by an arduous journey from the depths of addiction and mental health struggles to an agent of hope and restoration. Ben’s story is not just one of personal triumph but also a testament to his unwavering commitment to helping others find their path to recovery.

T.R.U.E. (Transforming Roots Unto Eternity) Addiction & Behavioral Health is an addiction and behavioral health facility in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The treatment facility was founded to deliver compassionate and personalized care to individuals facing drug or alcohol addiction and help with any mental health struggles they may be facing.

Instead of utilizing a standardized approach, the dedicated care team at T.R.U.E. devises a treatment plan that caters to each person’s specific needs and aspirations, creating an environment where clients are equipped with the tools needed to make their long-term recovery outcomes permanent. T.R.U.E. is the only facility in Tennessee that offers outpatient care for both mental health and substance abuse.

Ben’s professional journey is a narrative of transformation. His life once spiraled into the chaos of a 15-year battle with addiction and mental health issues, leading him to a state of hopelessness and homelessness.

Ben explains, “My turning point came when I committed to a 10-month long-term program, seeking a better way of life. This experience ignited a flame within me, a passion to help others suffering as I once did.”

His mission was clear: to serve those engulfed in the lifestyle of addiction and mental health struggles, offering hope that lives could be saved and restored.

A Journey of Professional Development

Starting in an entry-level position as a behavioral health technician, Ben quickly recognized the need for innovative solutions in treating addiction and mental health. His keen observations and motivation led him to pursue further education, earning him degrees in theology, ministry, psychology, clinical counseling, human services, and leadership. This diverse academic background equipped him with the philosophies and strategies necessary to impact the treatment industry profoundly.

Ben’s ascension from an entry-level position to an executive role is a testament to his drive and vision. He spent 13 years serving within various organizations, continually striving to raise the standards of care and operations. His journey is marked by a series of accomplishments, from turning failing programs around to launching successful companies that make lasting impacts in their communities.

Ben explains, “I have a past of struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues. After overcoming my own battles, I developed a passion to pursue a purpose to go and help others with the same struggles to spread hope in restoring lives.”

Ben has had the desire to open his own facility since 2016, and in 2024, that vision is becoming a reality with T.R.U.E. The facility will be designed to deviate from the industry’s norms and provide a unique mission, vision, and purpose. The organization is focused on delivering the highest standards and quality of care, treating individuals holistically in all aspects of their physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being.

Ben shares, “We approach every client the same with value, honor, and no judgment. Every client and staff member is treated as an honorable human being for their potential, not their past mistakes or afflictions. We treat people, not just the afflictions or symptoms.”

Ben’s role as the CEO and founder of T.R.U.E. is more than a job. It’s his calling. He finds immense satisfaction in serving both staff and clients, witnessing transformative changes on personal and professional levels. “My favorite part of the job is the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of those we serve,” says Ben.

The mission of T.R.U.E. is deeply personal for Ben. He understands the frontline battle against addiction and mental health issues, recognizing the daily losses and the urgent need for effective solutions.

“For me, this mission transcends business; it’s a service to humanity, aiming to restore lives and transform afflicted individuals into purpose-filled beings. No one is too far gone to change, and everyone deserves a chance at restoration,” explains Ben.
