Mickey Steffeny has spent nearly three decades helping people and organizations manage change. After 26 years at Archer-Daniels-Midland Co., Steffeny launched her own firm, Scalable Repeatable Solutions, as a consultant, coach, and content developer based in Alva, Florida. In this role, she guides individuals and small businesses through professional transitions. Additionally, she has been recognized as one of the Professional Women of Influence.
A New Career Path
In early 2025, Steffeny’s corporate position required relocating to Illinois. Instead of making that move, she chose to start her own company. As a business owner, she believed she could serve clients in a more personal way.
“I have become a ‘professional question asker,’” Steffeny says. People uncover the deeper motivations that shape their work and personal lives with each question. In coaching sessions, she encourages clients to define what they truly want. From there, she nudges them to take deliberate steps to reach it.
A central part of Steffeny’s profession involves studying how people express themselves. “One of the things I really dive into is learning about their communication style,” she says. She shows clients how their presentation on LinkedIn, in interviews, and during family interactions affects the impact of their words and actions. Many clients experience what she calls “aha moments” as they begin to see the value they bring to different environments.
Honest Conversations That Empower
In her coaching sessions, Steffeny creates space for discovery. “A recent Facebook or LinkedIn post was about pausing, taking a breath and sitting in it for a second,” she says. Often, clients realize they have been so focused on survival that they have forgotten how to dream. Steffeny helps them reopen that space by reminding them that new results require new approaches.
While most coaching sessions are conducted virtually, there’s an emphasis on building connection and trust. “If I see you talking down to yourself, questioning your skills or saying things that aren’t true about yourself, I ask for permission to call it out,” Steffeny says. These candid exchanges help people shift their perspective on themselves.
Authenticity during the session is not optional. “In coaching, sometimes it’s appropriate to be a little vulnerable and share some of my struggles with them,” Steffeny says. By being transparent, she demonstrates that no one is alone in facing career uncertainty and that adversity is part of growth.
Recognition for Leadership Excellence
Steffeny’s leadership has been recognized with multiple honors. These accolades include five Brandon Hall Group gold medals for learning and development. As a learning and adoption change leader at Archer-Daniels-Midland Co., she helped transform a compliance-driven culture into one that embraced unified global processes. This experience taught her that even the most change-resistant organizations can develop with the proper guidance.
Steffeny attributes her success to her relationship with God, being a strategic thinker, and being a hands-on leader. A reliance on an inner circle of morale boosters is another key factor. “My family has been super supportive throughout this process, but I also have a core group of women from diverse backgrounds who pray with me, encourage me, and are some of my biggest cheerleaders,” she says.
Projects Focused on Growth
In the next five to 10 years, Steffeny plans to expand her business. Her current projects include providing branding support to a small company and developing a scalable training program for a non-profit. She has also added career ownership coaching to broaden her impact.
By asking insightful questions and guiding clients to discover answers, Steffeny empowers them to embrace change and shape their future. “If my legacy is giving someone something to hold on to, something that gives hope, putting words to a vision or connecting their dreams to reality, then that’s me leaving the world a little bit better.”
