Meanwhile in Florida…apparently chasing family members with a knife is warranted when you’re told no more tomatoes.

On Wednesday, Nassau County resident, Katie Jade Glades, 19, was arrested after she became angry that she was not allowed to eat more than her “fair share of tomatoes” and chased her grandfather and great-grandmother. With a knife.

According to her grandmother, Gates began to throw a fit because she couldn’t have more tomatoes, police said. Gates then became disrespectful towards others in the household, enraging them, according to the report.

Initially throwing a cigarette pack at her great-grandmother, 73, striking her in the eye, Gates then grabbed a knife and started waiving it towards her grandfather. Because that’s the rational response.

Her grandfather ran out of the house, according to deputies, while Gates chased him out with the knife in her hand. She threatened to stab him in the face and began poking the knife toward his face, nearly cutting him.

Police arrested Gates on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery on a victim over the age of 65. She was then transported to the Nassau County Detention Facility.
