Marquis Who’s Who has recognized Thomas Diep for his contributions to the media and entertainment industry. Over a career spanning more than 25 years, Diep has developed his skills and knowledge, particularly in his current role at The Walt Disney Company.
Advancing Media with Data-Driven Insights
Since joining The Walt Disney Company in 2020, Diep has played a vital role in supporting advertising efforts across the company’s portfolio. As a research consultant in client solutions and addressable enablement, he provides insights, audience metrics, and guidance for sales support.
Diep collaborates closely with various departments to highlight the value of diverse audiences on both linear and digital platforms, aiming to turn potential challenges into opportunities. “I focus on using data-driven insights to address challenges effectively,” Diep explains. “It’s about identifying how certain shows attract diverse viewers and using that knowledge to enhance advertising strategies.”
Career Highlights and Leadership Philosophy
Diep began his career in 1999 as an ad sales assistant at Turner Broadcasting System Inc. He steadily progressed through various roles at CNN International, Mediaocean, and the Game Show Network. One notable role was as a sales research director at the Game Show Network, where he led digital and linear initiatives.
Diep believes effective leadership stems from being genuine and honest with colleagues. “You have to be genuine. You won’t be respected if you are not genuine and honest with your directs or peers,” he says. His focus on authenticity and accountability has contributed to his growth in the industry. As a mentor in Baruch College’s executive-on-campus program, Diep shares these principles with the next generation of industry professionals.
Driving Progress in the Age of Big Data and AI
Diep keeps pace with industry trends, particularly in using big data and AI within the media sector. He observes, “Big data is changing the media industry, and AI is becoming increasingly important. Whether in finance, social media or automotive, AI’s impact on media is clear.” His ability to incorporate these technologies into strategic plans has strengthened his role in the industry.
Outside of his professional work, Diep participates actively in the New York Road Runners and competes in dragon boat racing. He also contributes to the community by serving on the board of directors for the Prader-Willi Alliance of New York, reflecting his dedication to both professional and personal commitments.
