Published on November 26, 2025

With more than two decades of professional experience, Dawn M. Babbitt, CPA, FVS, has been acknowledged as a Top Professional by Marquis Who’s Who. Currently serving as the president of Redfish Accounting and Tax and founder of Equitable Forensics, Babbitt ensures that clients receive high-quality reporting and analysis.

Early Education and Career

Entering the field of accounting in 2006, Babbitt took a role as an accountant at Jeff Garcia CPA in Houston, earning a certified public accountant license through the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy. Following this career start, she completed a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus on accounting at the University of Houston-Downtown in 2011.

Building from this experience, Babbitt would join a private nonprofit as an accountant II from 2015 to 2016. Similarly, she worked as an accountant at RESA Power LLC from 2016 to 2017 and served briefly as an accountant at Prime Operating Co. the following year before joining Klein Independent School District (ISD) as an intermediate accountant.

Joining Redfish Capital and Redfish Accounting and Tax

Babbitt remained with Klein ISD for the following three years, but soon found an opportunity to work at Redfish Capital as an accounting manager in 2022. She quickly grew from this position to a certified public accountant with the company; at the same time, she was appointed president of Redfish Accounting and Tax. Though she left her role as an accountant in 2023, she remains in her position as president.

Building Equitable Forensics

In 2023, Babbitt decided to enter the world of entrepreneurship, launching Equitable Forensics in Houston. With extensive experience in accounting, she aims to use this venture to uphold ethical standards in her industry and support clients in need.

Today, Babbitt has plans to expand her team at Equitable Forensics into several different divisions, including financial reporting and analysis. She also intends to provide individual tax services, such as planning and projections, to help clients save money. This initiative has been a major focus of her work in 2025 and is the reason that Babbitt plans to add a third team member.

Civic and Membership Involvement

Outside of her career, Babbitt is involved in several civic and membership organizations. She is a committee member for education and advocacy at the Texas Chapter of Certified Public Accountants, as well as a member of the International Society for Female Professionals, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Professional Accounting Society. Additionally, she is a head coach and manager for youth baseball at the Spring-Klein Sports Association.

Plans for the Future

Within the next five to 10 years, Babbitt aims to separate the tax reporting side of her business from financial reporting and to appoint a dedicated vision leader. Furthermore, she plans to appoint another team member who specializes solely in forensics to work alongside her. As such, her current focus is on building her team and making professional contacts for client referrals.
