A specialist in the education and hospitality industries, Jesse M. Redlo, EdD, draws on a diverse professional history to make a positive impact on others. Believing that nothing worth having comes easy, Dr. Redlo remains dedicated to growth and improvement.
Academic Foundations and Key Certifications
Dr. Redlo’s career is built on a strong academic foundation. In 2013, he earned an associate’s degree in liberal arts and sciences at Monroe Community College. He completed a bachelor’s degree in hospitality and service management in 2015 and a master’s degree in hospitality and tourism management in 2016, both from the Rochester Institute of Technology. In 2020, he completed a Doctor of Education in leadership with a concentration in instructional leadership from the American College of Education.
To further his expertise, Dr. Redlo has engaged in continuing education and earned numerous certifications. For example, he took a course in social and behavioral research through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative Program and, earlier in his career, completed training to obtain a ServSafe food protection manager certification from the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. These endeavors reflect his diverse skill set, which includes administration, marketing, and leadership, among others.
From Hospitality Management to Education
While much of his early experience is centered on hospitality management, Dr. Redlo found greater passion in education and has worked as a program manager for the Executive Master of Business Administration at the Rochester Institute of Technology’s Saunders College of Business since 2023. In this role, he has dedicated himself to student empowerment and what he refers to as whole-person education. Believing that much of education is not written within the curriculum, Dr. Redlo aims to help students achieve genuine excellence.
In addition to his role at RIT, Dr. Redlo has served as an adjunct professor at SUNY Brockport since 2021. He has also worked in various instructional roles at the Rochester Institute of Technology, Monroe Community College, Onondaga Community College, and others, exercising his hospitality skills on many occasions.
Awards, Accolades, and Civic Contributions
For his contributions to education, Dr. Redlo has received several awards and accolades, including the SUNY Effective Practices Award for excellence in online instruction at Monroe Community College. Most notably, he received the Rochester Institute of Technology’s highest teaching honor last year, one based on student evaluations. An award that assesses both rigor and trust, this accolade was particularly meaningful.
Outside of his professional career, Dr. Redlo serves as chair of the Henriette Youth Board, a program designed to create free and low-cost programs that support underprivileged families. Each year, his leadership helps aid hundreds of families in financial need, ensuring that the community benefits positively from this work.

Dr. Redlo hopes to establish a more accessible and inclusive educational culture, one that destigmatizes the risks associated with learning. Moving forward, he remains committed to developing programs that encourage experiential learning, prioritizing critical thinking skills over a traditional textbook-based approach.
