Laurie J. Urbancik, a corporate professional and the owner of No Sugar Momma, transitioned from a 25-year career at Exelon to founding a health-focused snack and dessert company. Marquis Who’s Who recognized her for this major shift and her contributions to the health and wellness industry.
A Focus on Health Through Conscious Eating
After experiencing health issues, Urbancik adopted a diet free of gluten, dairy, processed sugar, and eggs. This change led her to experiment with plant-based ingredients and natural sweeteners. She developed more than 60 recipes for snacks and baked goods, including Peanut Butter Bombz and Krazy Kookies.
In 2019, Urbancik founded No Sugar Momma, a brand that offers processed sugar-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, non-GMO, and vegan products. Publications like Canvas Rebel Magazine have featured her work.
“No Sugar Momma is more than just a business — it’s a way to promote healthier eating with treats that are nutritionally rich,” Urbancik explains. “Our products aim to support people in their wellness journeys just as they have supported mine.”
Transitioning from Corporate to Culinary
Before starting No Sugar Momma, Urbancik held various leadership roles at Exelon, including director of cybersecurity and infrastructure projects. She earned three Exelon Excellence Awards for her work. Beyond her business, Urbancik remains active in her community, serving as vice president of the Hongik ECO Farm to support regenerative farming practices and food pantry donations and volunteering with Body and Brain to share health and wellness programs with companies and schools.
“The support from my community, retailers and customers has been strong. It reflects a growing interest in healthier, more mindful food options,” Urbancik says. “I’m eager to continue expanding No Sugar Momma and helping others take control of their health with our nutritious treats and wellness information sharing.”
Urbancik’s journey demonstrates how personal challenges can lead to new opportunities. Through No Sugar Momma, she actively promotes healthier and more mindful eating.
