The construction and interior remodeling industry presents many distinct challenges. Tight deadlines, fluctuating costs, and the constant demand for high-quality work make it difficult for companies to succeed. Jonathan Rios, however, has not only handled these challenges — he has excelled.
As the founder and president of Rios Interiors Corporation, Rios has built a solid reputation in New York’s hotel and residential sectors. With more than 15 years of experience, he has transformed spaces, grown his business, and left a lasting impact on the industry.
A Passion for Construction and Remodeling
Rios’ journey in the construction industry began at a young age. His father worked in the painting industry, and he spent his weekends working alongside him. “At 15, I started working with my father and that’s when I realized I wanted to be in construction and remodeling,” he reflects.
This early exposure sparked his interest in the field, and by the age of 21, Rios started his own company. His experience in residential and commercial projects helped him quickly gain a reputation for delivering high-quality work.
Rios graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration in economics and a minor in psychology from Queens College in 2013. His education and hands-on experience gave him the strong foundation he needed to succeed as an entrepreneur.
Transforming the Hotel and Residential Remodeling Markets
Since founding Rios Interiors in 2009, Rios has worked with prestigious hotel clients like Hotel Edison, The Langham, The Mark, and Renaissance Hotels. Specializing in hotel remodeling in Manhattan, he has overseen the renovation of more than 500 hotel rooms. “We’re part of the change in the hotel industry, making spaces more inviting and guest-friendly,” he says. His company also focuses on residential remodeling, delivering high-quality work for individual homes and commercial properties.
One of Rios’ proudest achievements is building a supportive and open culture at Rios Interiors. His team of nearly 40 employees and subcontractors plays a key role in the company’s success. “I want my team to feel cared for and appreciated. I aim to provide them with a clear vision and stable work,” he explains. His focus on leadership development and personal growth within his team has helped the business thrive.
Giving Back to the Community
Beyond his professional success, Rios enjoys giving back to his community. He provides pro bono renovation services to organizations like the Christian Cultural Center and Our Lady of Fatima Church. He also helps provide meals for families in need during Thanksgiving and Christmas. “It’s important to give back. Helping families in need is something my family and I value deeply,” he says.
Rios’ charitable efforts show his commitment to making a positive impact, both through his business and his community.
Looking Forward: Expanding and Creating a Legacy
Rios plans to expand Rios Interiors Corporation into public works and real estate development. He aims to grow the company’s residential and commercial divisions and pursue opportunities in school construction and mentorship programs. “I want to expand my company and give back to my community on a larger scale,” he says. He also plans to focus on real estate development and hopes to build properties from the ground up.
By expanding his business into public projects and real estate, Rios plans to initiate growth and opportunity for his team while giving back to the community. His vision extends beyond business success. He aims to build a legacy of leadership, compassion, and innovation that will continue inspiring future generations in his industry and community.
