Jerry Xiang Kong Brings Integrity and Honesty to Construction and Investment

Bringing a unique blend of financial expertise and collaborative leadership to the metal building construction industry, the cofounder of Mammoth Structures is reshaping commercial projects. Jerry Xiang Kong, whose areas of expertise include multifamily investing, economics and finance, serves as investor relationship manager at Mammoth and is additionally a member of MF Investing in Las Vegas.

We build self-storage, warehouses, strip malls for multiuse and things like that out of metal. We don’t do skyscrapers or anything like that, but we do go as high as five stories, the same height as any wood construction. We can go very wide if you want to go 100 feet, 150 feet, or 200 feet wide,” says Kong.

This comprehensive approach to designing and constructing metal buildings reflects Kong’s broader philosophy of business excellence, which is built on strong relationships and continuous improvement.

Guided by Principles

Kong brought his expertise in other industries to the work he does at Mammoth Structures. As a relatively new entrant to the industry, he is aware of the constant changes in the field and recognizes the importance of continuous learning to stay at the forefront.

Kong earned an MBA in finance from the School of Management at Binghamton University and a bachelor’s degree in business management from Purdue University.

One point of pride is that Kong has never overseen a project where his team underperformed. In fact, they always exceed expectations. Even on the finance side, the company always outperforms its projections.

“We do a lot of things definitely with integrity and honesty. I’m always thinking more about a collaborative way and how we work together,” says Kong.

When collaborating with someone who enters the project as a part of the deal, Kong makes it a point not to step over people to get what he wants. Having benefited from the guidance of his mentors, he knows the importance of working well with others. Over time, he has developed a support system that is crucial to his success and values what others bring to a project.

Creative Solutions in Construction

This collaborative mindset extends to how Kong approaches industry challenges, particularly those that affect project timelines and client satisfaction. One part of the industry that concerns him most is the delays that occur due to weather, especially in parts of the United States with high rainfall. On the other hand, states like California have their own issues. Many contractors avoid working when it rains in dry climates because they aren’t accustomed to working in wet conditions. This can cause some consternation among clients. Customers don’t anticipate the work stoppages and expect the work to be done every day of the week except Sundays.

“There’s a lot of stopping. Sometimes it’s material, sometimes it’s the weather and sometimes it’s other factors. But it’s our job to minimize that, and by making smaller tweaks, we can really minimize it aside from the weather side of things, which we cannot control,” says Kong.

One such change that Kong supports is putting in flooring early in building projects. This adaptation requires collaboration with architects and engineers to make the necessary changes, allowing the floors to be installed earlier in the project. Kong points out that certain components and connectors need to be changed for earlier installation, but supply companies can stamp steel into any shape required.

A Commitment to Innovation

As he advances in his career, Kong looks forward to establishing his reputation as an industry expert. His commitment to innovation and integrity has not gone unnoticed in the broader business community. For his accomplishments, Marquis Who’s Who honored Kong for his expertise in real estate in June 2025.

Outside of work, Kong is active in his homeowner’s association and enjoys hiking. He is the proud father of a 15-year-old son, Cody.

With a foundation built on education and collaboration, Kong continues to shape the construction and investment industries while inspiring trust in each project he undertakes.
