Romanda Lee Hammond-Murphy, PhD, has led a successful career as an executive advisor and project manager. She is the founder and chief executive officer of Giorgham Trademark, a company that researches and executes winning solutions in a myriad of markets.

Dr. Hammond-Murphy

Hammond-Murphy was raised by a single mother who spent 41 years in service to the United States federal government. Her mother was a firm and direct woman who taught her the value of striving for excellence. She grew up understanding that her mother did not rely on anyone else for support and benefited from learning strong leadership qualities.

“Don’t just do what you’re doing. Be the best at whatever you do,” is the motto Hammond-Murphy’s mother taught her.

Hammond-Murphy’s career took a very different trajectory from what she had originally envisioned. Determined to become an actress, she started her academic ambitions with this goal in mind. She received a bachelor’s degree in mass media communications from Washington Saturday College in 1996. When she recognized the difficulties of pursuing an acting career while raising small children, she decided to switch careers to better suit her home life. She embarked on a telecommunications career, excited by the constantly changing dynamics of information technology.

Hammond-Murphy returned to school and earned a Master of Science in project management from George Washington University in 2002. After graduating, she became a consultant and worked with various companies in the following years. She has excelled in the IT positions she has held and has dedicated herself to learning all she could from captains of industry. She worked diligently, never giving up until she achieved good results.

“I didn’t just want a job or a career path. I wanted a career path where I could be exceptional and stand out. I always took initiatives that were challenging. I didn’t take anything easy. I wanted something that was upside down so I could turn it right back up,” Hammond-Murphy says.

In 2005, Hammond-Murphy decided to challenge herself and founded Giorgham Trademark. She worked diligently on the company, building it up through marketing and branding. The brand is now known globally and recent revenue has reached $1.7 million.

Success Through Determination and Hard Work

Hammond-Murphy continues her journey to improve herself. She believes her accomplishments are based on her dedication to constantly learning. Hammond-Murphy has repeatedly returned to her academic career to further her education in topics she deemed beneficial to her aspirations.

Hammond-Murphy received a Bachelor of Science in information technology from the University of Phoenix in 2012, a Master of Science in project management from Western Carolina University in 2014, a Doctor of Philosophy in information systems management from Capella University in 2018, and a Doctor of Philosophy in pedagogy from the Christian Bible Institute & Seminary in 2024.

Currently, Hammond-Murphy’s focus is on a new app Giorgham Trademark is developing. As someone passionate about the advancements of the digital era and connectivity among family, friends, and business associates, she believes her new application will have a positive impact.

“It is a conglomerate of everything that’s out there in the social media realm. In my last ten years, it’s been such a battle to navigate from application to application to do everything I needed to do to communicate with my children, send them something, or even conduct business. I pretty much consolidated about a good 24 third-party apps into my unique application. That’s in beta testing right now. It gives families the affordability to connect in multiple arenas, not just vocal, but in whatever you have to do with your family. Also, from a business perspective, it aligns with businesses as well. A lot of deals can be done there,” Hammond-Murphy explains.

Hammond-Murphy is excited about expanding her company and its global reach.
