As a deputy chief of the San Jose Police Department, Brandon P. Sanchez has dedicated himself to public safety. For this reason, Marquis Who’s Who has acknowledged him as a top professional in law enforcement through inclusion in its biographical volumes. A visionary leader with over two decades of experience in his field, Sanchez is actively ensuring safety across San Jose, California.
Building on a Legacy of Public Safety
Growing up, Sanchez’s father was a police officer. Rather than following in his footsteps, he planned to pursue a career in sports. During his senior year of high school, however, he enlisted in the Navy. After serving, he wasn’t sure where to go next. However, he thought of his father, the only person he knew who genuinely anticipated going back to work, and decided to walk the same path. Once Sanchez experienced the profession of law enforcement, he knew he wasn’t going back.
Joining the San Jose Police Department
Sanchez began his professional career as a police officer in the San Jose Police Department in 1998. While serving as an officer, he took up additional executive protection roles for the SanRica Corporation from 1999 to 2003 and UTG Inc. from 2011 to 2013. It was in 2013 that Sanchez was promoted to patrol sergeant for the San Jose Police Department, but was quickly appointed sergeant of the criminal intelligence unit by 2014.
In 2017, Sanchez became the sergeant of the San Jose Police Department’s internal affairs unit, CID, and was subsequently promoted to lieutenant in 2018. Within three years, he became a robbery unit commander; two years later, he was appointed police captain of the San Jose Police Department. It was in 2024 that Sanchez stepped into the role of acting deputy chief, soon becoming the official deputy chief that same year.
An Education in Law Enforcement
Sanchez bolstered his expertise in law enforcement with an education, first completing a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from California Coast University. He graduated magna cum laude in 2022, before completing a Master of Science in law enforcement and public safety leadership from the University of San Diego in 2024.
The Results of Leadership
Under his leadership, Sanchez’s department has achieved a 100% homicide solve rate for the past three years, largely due to changes he implemented. He personally worked to solve random serial murders perpetrated by gang members in San Jose as an undercover operative and ensured a functional department despite being woefully understaffed. By improving efficiency and implementing inter-departmental communication, Sanchez has helped to build a reliable institution for public safety.
Beyond his professional work, Sanchez is also actively involved as a leader in several civic organizations. He is part of the Gilroy Rotary Club and is a former president of the Keith Kelley Club.
Goals for the Long and Short-Term
Looking to the future, Sanchez is hoping to secure a position as chief of police in a nearby city. He aims to leverage a wealth of experience in public safety to improve outcomes in the area. Looking toward the future, Sanchez aspires to build a successful career focused on leadership development while making a positive impact on others.
