Andrew Clemens Advances Print Advertising with a Focus on Sustainability

Published on October 1, 2025

Growing up, Andrew H. Clemens’ parents owned a small print shop. As such, he was surrounded by printing presses, ink, and paper in Chanhassen and Excelsior, Minnesota. This early exposure led to a lifelong career in printing and retail displays. By age 24, he was selling commercial printing with a specialty in catalogs, brochures, and direct mail.

At that time, printed materials were the primary channel for business communication, but as the internet emerged, companies began changing how they marketed themselves. Clemens recognized the need to adapt, so he transitioned from commercial printing to retail fixtures.

Leadership in Delta Air Lines’ Global Rebranding

In 2007, Clemens joined The Bernard Group as an executive sales representative. The Chanhassen-based company designs, engineers, and manufactures large and small format printing, signage, and retail displays. While the firm imports some items, most are produced in the United States.

Clemens has overseen projects that brought creative and logistical challenges. Among his most significant achievements was managing Delta Air Lines’ rebranding across 301 airports in 59 countries. He and his team prototyped, tested, and delivered signage and fixtures that supported Delta’s global identity, helping the airline strengthen its brand. Moreover, this project highlighted the collaborative problem-solving approach Clemens values.

Recycled Material in Retail Displays

Environmental responsibility is a recurring theme in Clemens’ work. The Bernard Group uses recycled materials such as acrylic, boards, and PVC. This eco-friendly approach meets the growing demand from clients for sustainable options.

Retailers want solutions that minimize waste. In response, Clemens has been at the forefront of aligning those requests with viable production methods. “We are a leader in environmental sustainability,” he says.

Eco-consciousness in retail displays is more than a passing trend. It reflects a shift in how businesses and consumers think about zero waste. “We do a lot of recycled materials,” Clemens says. “We’re really trending toward recycled materials so they don’t end up in the landfill.”

A Team-First Approach to Sales Growth

Clemens attributes much of his success to the expertise of the people he works with. He believes effective leadership involves seeking input from engineers, estimators, and specialists who can solve complex client problems. Sourcing materials domestically or from overseas requires detailed analysis, so Clemens values the collective input that leads to the best outcome.

As a Top Professional and Executive, Clemens has generated annual sales of between $7 million and $10 million, reflecting his skill and the stability he provides for his team. For him, strong relationships with colleagues and clients are as valuable as the products.

Civic Values and Family Life

Community involvement plays a significant role in Clemens’ life. He supports organizations such as the UnitedHealthcare of Children’s Foundation and Concerts in the Park through The Bernard Group. He sees these efforts as a way to give back while reinforcing the company’s civic values.

At home, Clemens enjoys time with his wife of 27 years and their two children. Additionally, he spends much of his free time near Lotus Lake, where he finds relaxation outside the demands of his profession.

Decades of Printing Expertise Amid Industry Trends

Clemens has over three decades of experience in printing and 17 years at The Bernard Group. However, he remains motivated by helping clients and growing the company. His work ethic reflects long-standing industry knowledge, a commitment to sustainability, and a reliance on teamwork. The printing and retail display sector may have changed since his parents’ print shop, but Clemens’ focus on problem-solving continues to define his career.
