Denver’s Beta Nightclub Will Be Closing For Good In 2019

Published on December 26, 2018

For years now Denver has clawed its way to the top of the nightlife industry in America. Venues like Red Rocks and Beta Nightclub have worked hard to create and maintain Denver’s status as a world-famous destination for great nightlife and concert-going experiences. Now, after 11 years, Beta nightclub has announced that it will be closing its doors for the final time next month.

Beta Nightclub announced that it would be closing permanently in January on its Facebook page. The news quickly spread throughout the internet like wildfire because the raver community never logs off of the internet. The post quickly garnered thousands of shares, likes and comments. News outlets around the country also began to discuss the closure. Meanwhile, artists that have played at the venue throughout its 11 years in business discussed favorite memories they had at the venue.

Saying Goodbye

“Almost 11 years ago, we, the founders of Beta, began to pull together our idea of what the future of dance clubbing should be, not only here in Denver, but the world. It was an idea that centered on the dance floor, providing cutting-edge dance music and entertainment, with state-of-the-art production along with an unparalleled vibe. It was an idea that club culture should always be evolving, striving to be its best version of itself,” said the venue on its official Facebook page. The famed music venue will be closing its doors for the final time next month. However, it still lists events going into February. The venue has not said what it plans to do with the remaining shows.

Beta isn’t the only nightclub to close its doors recently. San Francisco’s Mezzanine nightclub also saw the end in 2018. Mezzanine credits its closure to sky high rent costs within San Francisco. This is an ever-increasing problem within the city, that can’t keep up with how quickly it’s growing into a mega-metropolis.

Beta Through The Years

Over the years, Denver has worked hard to become a pivotal centerpiece in America’s electronic music scene. The mile high city has earned a reputation for having one of the most flourishing bass music scenes in the world. Festivals like Global Dub Festival, Global Dance Festival and the nearby Lost Lands have made it a must-go for all bass music fans.

Beta earned a place in music history as one of the best clubs in the world, according to magazines like DJ Magazine and other crowd-sourced award-givers. Rolling Stone and Billboard also named the club one of the best of all time. This must have been a particularly hard feat for a city that has to compete with historical music powerhouses like Miami, Las Vegas, Berlin and Detroit—places which are all famous for very different reasons. Yes, that means that Beta won an award over Berghain, one of the most prolific nightclubs in history, if you can manage to get through its doors.
