David Emerson Frost has spent nearly 50 years in service, first to his country, then industry, and now to his community. A retired Navy Captain turned personal trainer, life coach, and entrepreneur, his journey reflects a deep commitment to leadership, health, and purpose.
As the owner of Well Past Forty LLC, Frost serves as a life coach and personal trainer, working to empower others to live longer, healthier, and more meaningful lives.
Academic Foundations and Military Service
Frost’s professional career has been supported by education, beginning with a bachelor’s degree in general engineering and bioscience from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1975. Afterward, he pursued a master’s degree in systems management, human factors, and logistics from the University of Southern California in 1981. In 1989, Frost completed coursework in national security and decision-making at the U.S. Naval War College.
Following his education at the U.S. Naval Academy, Frost went on to hold several positions in the U.S. Navy and the Naval Reserve. Most notably, he served as an anti-submarine warfare officer, command and control subspecialist, and a selected reserve coordinator between 1976 and 1997. He retired from the Navy in 1997 with the rank of captain (O-6).
Building a Professional Career
Frost’s professional career began in 1981, while he was serving in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He became a technical staff member at Aeronautical Radio Inc. and transitioned to work as an analyst at Science Applications International Corporation in 1984. Soon enough, he became the research and development leader of the maritime business at Martin Marietta Corporation from 1989 to 1996. In 1997, Frost founded Well Past Forty LLC, an organization he continues to operate today.
Since founding Well Past Forty LLC, Frost has served in various capacities, including business developer, senior analyst, manager, consultant, speechwriter, director, personal trainer, and adjunct professor. His vast experience informs his work, where he acts as a business owner, nonprofit executive, master fitness trainer, and educator. Relying on his wealth of experience, he focuses on serving others through life improvement.
Civic and Membership Involvement
Outside of his professional career, Frost is involved in several civic positions and memberships. Many of his memberships focus on personal training and sports science, while much of his civic involvement is dedicated to service and volunteering. Additionally, Frost has written several creative works, including the specialty nonfiction work “Strong to Save” in 2024. His first book, “KABOOMER: Thriving and Striving into your 90s,” was released in June of 2020.
For his professional contributions and service, Frost has received several notable awards. He has received several commendations, medals, and awards for his naval service. Additionally, he recently received the Craig Thrasher Service to Rowing Award, which recognizes his outstanding service to the rowing community. He has also been acknowledged as Kiwanian of the Year by the Los Rancheros Kiwanis Club in 2003 and adjunct professor of the year by the University of Phoenix in 2017.
A New Mission for a Healthy Future
Moving forward in “act three” of his life, Frost aims to focus his personal training work on reducing heart disease in the U.S. Inspired to promote longer, healthier lives, he is focused on demonstrating that regular exercise, adequate sleep and stress management are not only possible but a simple way to contribute to longevity. Relying on his experience, Frost is actively bringing his vision to life. His championships in Masters Rowing exemplify a “no fault” operating system.
