In a world that often glorifies external success, few entrepreneurs embody the power of inner transformation quite like Pei Chan, founder of Inmispace. More than just a company, Inmispace is a movement to reconnect with one’s inner wisdom, redefine success, and create spaces that reflect authenticity and intention.
Pei Chan’s journey began in Singapore as the youngest in a close-knit entrepreneurial family. Her father owned a carpentry and office partition business and distributed Simmons mattresses. These were early influences that planted seeds of spatial awareness and craftsmanship. At age nine, her life shifted dramatically when their family’s factory burned down. But instead of succumbing to the trauma, Pei watched in awe as her father rebuilt the business in just two weeks.
That experience witnessing perseverance in action taught Pei one of her most enduring values: resilience isn’t about avoiding hardship, but rising through it.
A Leap Into the Unknown: Moving to London
After graduating and working briefly in Singapore, Pei made a spontaneous and bold decision to move to London at 22, sparked by conversations with headhunters during a holiday. Thanks to Singapore’s Commonwealth status, she secured a working holiday visa and entered the competitive finance world with only £2000 and no connections.
The cultural shift was immense. London felt isolating and intimidating at first, but Pei’s strong work ethic, shaped by Singapore’s demanding standards, helped her stand out. She quickly adapted, building an 18-year career across prestigious firms like Bank of New York, UBS O’Connor, Millennium, Balyasny, and Symmetry.
Corporate Ascension and the Breaking Point
Her career trajectory was impressive. From fund accounting to supporting macro portfolio managers and even leading a trading solutions function, Pei’s skillset expanded rapidly. She was later headhunted to Balyasny to build an investment solutions and engagement function and served as the interim COO for the quantitative trading function. But after two successful years, the market crashed, and she was made redundant.
The layoff triggered an identity crisis, one that exposed the emotional cost of relentless ambition. Pei realized she had been so focused on achieving that she had neglected her inner world.
Breathwork: The Return to Self
The redundancy marked a turning point. Pei returned to breathwork, a practice she had discovered years earlier but never fully embraced. This time, it became her anchor. Through breathwork, she processed grief over her father’s passing, reconnected with repressed emotions, and finally began to feel whole again.
During this same period, Pei reached the pinnacle of her finance career, achieving her most successful and impactful tenure to date.
What struck her most was the simplicity and accessibility of breathwork. Despite initially being skeptical, she found it more powerful than other modalities she had tried. It helped her understand the unconscious patterns behind her overachievement and perfectionism.
Inmispace: A Brand Born from Inner Knowing
Pei launched Inmispace as a “joy hustle” alongside her corporate job. The name reflects her belief that true solutions, intuition, and strength are found not externally but in us. It’s a counter to the pervasive search for validation from outside sources.
For three and a half years, Pei coached clients through breathwork and hypnosis, often waking at 5 a.m. to journal and develop content. She even created My Breath Journal, a practical guide built around a “321” method to help people establish a simple, affordable home breathwork practice. But the dual life eventually caught up with her.
She realised it was time to reevaluate her life choices. At 40, a Tony Robbins video inspired her to leap fully into her calling. At 41, she transitioned full-time into breathwork and conscious leadership.
The Power of Inmispace in Today’s Fast-Paced Life
Now, Pei’s mission is to make breathwork simple, affordable, and accessible to as many people as possible. She believes everyone should have the tools to reconnect with themselves, without complication or cost being a barrier.
Her upcoming My Breath Journal, set to release in late summer, is a reflection of this vision: a practical and easy-to-use guide built around gentle daily practice. Through it, Pei offers a welcoming path for people to cultivate presence, healing, and self-awareness, one breath at a time.
If her journey resonates with you, take a quiet moment to explore what’s possible. Inmispace is the ultimate internal detox for your mind and body, an invitation to clear away what no longer serves you and step fully into your own power.
