Amy K. Verley is a distinguished professional and expert in the field of nuclear operations and maintenance and environmental compliance. Verley is a readiness leader and subject matter expert at Boston Government Services LLC, an engineering, technology, and security firm.
Since 2022, Verley has been an instrumental member of the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. She also made contributions to her field as a quality assurance specialist and performance assurance supervisor at Chicago Bridge & Iron and WECTEC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Westinghouse Electric Co., from 2013 to 2016.
From 2003 to 2013, Verley was promoted to operational readiness review coordinator at URS Corp after joining the company as a readiness engineer and supporting the project as an environmental specialist III. Other foundational experiences include her work for the Department of Environmental Quality for the State of Oregon, where she was a permit compliance specialist from 1999 to 2003. She started her career in various industries, contributing to environmental compliance and wastewater/water treatment operations, most notably at J.R. Simplot Co. and Hadco Corp. from 1996 to 1999.
Driven to Help the World
Verley’s professional accomplishments include publishing a white paper on the application of industrial wastewater onto land application sites on the state of Oregon’s website. However, she considers her most notable achievement to be her work at two facilities that were involved in destroying chemical weapons, ultimately contributing to global safety.
In addition to her professional roles, Verley is actively involved in various civic activities. These include serving as a board member on a local wastewater consortium, participating in trail cleanups, and helping train wastewater and water treatment operators so they can obtain continuing education units required for certification.
Verley’s passion for serving her community and environmental awareness is further highlighted through her donations to the Humane Society and several breast cancer foundations, as well as her fundraising efforts for the TennGreen Land Conservancy. Additionally, she recently served as president of her housing development’s homeowners association.
