From Engineering to Investing
Since 2017, Sather has served as a managing partner at Sather Research LLC. He is an expert in teaching others about stocks and investment strategies, providing practical examples for aspiring investors by using stocks from his own portfolio. As a respected figure in the field, he remains dedicated to researching companies and identifying long-term investments.
Prior to his current roles at Sather Research and Value Spotlight, Sather held various positions focused on engineering and design. He served as an analog mask layout design engineer at Microsoft from 2019 to 2020, where he sharpened his technical skills. Before this, he was a layout design engineer at Broadcom from 2018 to 2019, which provided him with the technical knowledge needed for his subsequent roles in engineering and investment research.
Other professional roles Sather has held include serving as a mask layout designer and engineer support III at Qualcomm Technologies Inc. from 2015 to 2018 and working as a layout design engineer at Broadcom, where he earned that company’s Spot Award in 2014, from 2013 to 2015. He initially joined Broadcom as a mixed signal intern in 2012 before he became a layout design contractor in 2013.
To prepare for his career, Sather obtained a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from the University of California at Irvine in 2013.

Beyond Sather’s daily responsibilities, he has made significant contributions to his field through various publications and projects, including co-creating “The Investing for Beginners Podcast – Your Path to Financial Freedom” with his business partner Dave Ahern. This podcast has achieved significant recognition, including reaching the top 40 in the investing category and highlighting his influence and impact within the industry. In addition, Sather has authored “7 Steps to Understanding the Stock Market” and has been featured in Yahoo Finance and Nasdaq.

The Reasons for Success
Sather is actively involved in civic organizations, including youth kids ministry at his church. He credits his success to his faith and the love and support of his family, wife Kim, daughters Elise and Kylie, parents John and Diane, and siblings Kristina, Josh, and David.
