Seth D. Rotman, RN, NC-BC, ADHD-CCSP, is a Board Certified Nurse Coach and the founder of Clarify Wellness LLC, specializing in ADHD coaching. He combines his nursing background with personal experiences of living with ADHD to offer a unique approach that empowers clients to thrive.

Seven-Day Backpacking Expedition for ADHD and Leadership Growth

Rotman is partnering with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) to create the Seven-Day 8DHD Backpacking Expedition, a program designed to focus on ADHD management and leadership development. This unique program is set to launch in April of 2025 in the breathtaking Southern Utah canyons.

Tailored for professionals with ADHD and those who support them, this trip will help participants understand and overcome the silent struggles that can come with neurodiversity.

“Unmanaged ADHD can create chaos and disruption, even if some things appear to be fine. For example, your work life may be fine, but you feel overwhelmed at home. You may struggle with time management, communication, creating balance, or resolving conflict. The 8DHD expedition can help with all of this, and more,” Rotman explains.

As a NOLS alum himself, Rotman jumped at the chance to partner with NOLS. His 8DHD program, which uses holistic, evidence-based ADHD coaching to build the skills and tools required to thrive with ADHD, is the foundation of the expedition.

He says, “NOLS was life-changing for me and my goal now is to provide that same experience for others. Whether for yourself or supporting others, this will be an immersive experience that fosters personal growth, teaches leadership skills, and can be utilized on day one of getting home.”

For seven days, attendees will hike, camp, and participate in interactive learning that not only teaches effective ADHD management techniques but also cultivates essential leadership competencies. The program emphasizes building community among participants, helping them break the feelings of isolation that can exist with ADHD while fostering a supportive environment.

“During this expedition, individuals will learn how to navigate their ADHD while refining their leadership abilities through NOLS’ leadership curriculum,” Rotman states. “Participants will receive hands-on intensive coaching, gain deep personal understanding, learn mindfulness practices they can use any time, and gain practical skills to effectively navigate and thrive in their daily lives.”

A Journey of Advocacy and Personal Growth

Rotman’s journey into nursing and coaching has been inspired by his own experiences with ADHD. Diagnosed at a young age, he received invaluable support from his parents, who recognized his learning differences and advocated for his needs. “The advocacy lessons I learned from my parents have become foundational to my practice,” he shares. This early understanding has equipped him to assist others facing similar challenges.

After initially pursuing a career in film, Rotman discovered his true calling in the medical field while preparing for his own NOLS expedition. This experience ultimately led him to become a nurse and a Board Certified Nurse Coach. In addition to ADHD coaching, he also presents at speaking engagements and coaches corporate clients.

Building Awareness of Nurse Coaching in ADHD

Rotman has established partnerships with local universities and business management groups to enhance awareness of nurse coaching and its benefits. “I believe storytelling is a powerful tool for connection and inspiration,” he emphasizes. “My goal is to be the resource that answers the question of ‘now what?’ after someone is diagnosed. My program and my approach have created that answer by blending research and experience.”

Rotman’s approach to ADHD management is anchored in his “8 Brocade of Holistic Wellness” theory, which highlights the interconnectedness of eight dimensions of wellness. His methods allow for true holistic management of symptoms and flexible ways to create goal attainment.
