E2G FOOD (EAT-2-GROW), a trailblazing social enterprise, is making waves in the humanitarian sector with its high-protein, ready-to-eat FOOD bar, designed to address food insecurity while promoting nutrition. As the global demand for efficient, life-saving food solutions continues to grow, E2G’s FOOD bar is at the forefront of this movement, providing essential sustenance to communities in crisis.

E2G FOOD’s mission is simple yet profound: to feed the world more nutritiously and sufficiently. The FOOD bars are designed to provide maximum nutrition in a compact form, ensuring that those in crisis receive the sustenance needed. Each FOOD bar packs a punch with 500 calories and 30 grams of protein, making it a powerful tool in the fight against hunger. Made from natural ingredients such as dates, oats, nuts, and nature’s superfood: spirulina – the bars deliver nearly double the protein content of a typical High Energy Biscuit, making them a critical resource in feeding vulnerable populations.

Eco-Trailblazer Joseph Oliver, strategic advisor to the project says; ‘To create a bar that isn’t high in processed sugars, uses plant protein and doesn’t require refrigeration, whilst being delicious, is game-changing. It’s good for people’s health, and the environment and reduces carbon emissions when transported.’

He goes on to say, ‘I can see this being sold in the 7Eleven nearby whilst also being the first choice for the provision of food during a disaster relief situation. Everyone, regardless of their situation deserves quality food’.

Spirulina is known for its exceptional nutritional value, contributing to immune support, improved energy levels, and overall well-being. This sustainable plant-based protein can thrive in climate-stressed environments, and its rapid growth cycle makes it a crucial component in emergency feeding solutions. The inclusion of spirulina gives the FOOD bar a nutritional profile akin to a healthy meal, making it an ideal resource in disaster relief scenarios.

The design of the FOOD bar makes it especially practical for use in humanitarian aid. With no need for refrigeration, cooking, or heating, the bar is ready to eat and has an impressive shelf life of 18 months. This ensures that the FOOD bars can be stored and transported over long distances without the risk of spoilage, providing a reliable source of nutrition in emergencies. Additionally, the bars are halal-certified and suitable for individuals aged five and older, ensuring accessibility for diverse populations.

Through the power of consumer donations, E2G is already delivering these essential FOOD bars to communities around the world, including in Turkey, Sudan, Ukraine, and Gaza. In the past year, 14,000 FOOD bars have been donated to communities worldwide. Whether for frontline workers needing sustained energy to perform life-saving tasks or for displaced populations in need of immediate nourishment, the FOOD bar offers an impactful and eco-friendly solution to hunger.

E2G FOOD’s mission extends beyond the provision of immediate relief. The social enterprise is committed to fostering long-term, sustainable feeding solutions through its partnerships with charities and organizations. One of the most exciting initiatives is the development of spirulina micro-farms, which aim to create a self-sustaining source of protein for local communities.

In collaboration with The Cares Organization, a Dallas-based public charity, and the National Christian Foundation (NCF), E2G FOOD is currently building the first spirulina micro farm in Zimbabwe, Harare, at Gwebi Agricultural College. Once operational it will feed 500 people per day with 5g of spirulina, the recommended daily allowance, and contribute to the local communities’ health and nutrition. In one year, a farm can produce up to 150,000 protein supplements – over four years this increases to 600,000 people positively impacted by the nutritional properties of spirulina.

By empowering local communities to grow their own spirulina, E2G FOOD is not only addressing immediate food needs but also providing the tools for communities to build long-term resilience against hunger. The micro farms offer a sustainable business model, as the spirulina can be consumed locally or sold to generate income, creating a cycle of nourishment and economic opportunity.

Peter Henderson, CEO of E2G FOOD, emphasized the importance of innovation for the social enterprise, “Having worked as a cameraman for many years I saw first-hand the devastation that struck communities during crises. This inspired us to develop FOOD that addresses food insecurity through a compact, instant, and nutrient-dense bar that sustains people, whilst being mindful of our planet.” Peter added “Our impact goes beyond just nourishment: it’s about advocating a change to create more sustained feeding solutions and build lasting partnerships to empower communities.

As the world continues to face natural disasters, conflicts, and other crises, E2G FOOD remains steadfast in its mission to provide life-saving nutrition to those who need it most. The FOOD bar, with its powerful blend of nutrition and practicality, is helping to set a new standard in the fight against global hunger.

As E2G FOOD continues to expand its reach and deepen its impact, the social enterprise calls on individuals, companies, and organizations to join the movement. Through website donations and partnerships, E2G FOOD aims to feed the world more nutritiously, creating a brighter future for those in need. Together, we can make a difference, one FOOD bar at a time.
