The Nike x Stranger Things collection will be out June 27th, and people are loving the retro, 80’s inspired vibe that this brand new collaboration is giving out. Nike posted up a sneak preview of the sneakers last week, and they’re already getting plenty of hype.

Though it’s been a while since they released a new season, who can forget Netflix hit Stranger Things? Set in the 80’s, in a small town called Hawkins, this show definitely plays on our nostalgia. The new long-awaited season is due to premier this July, and what better way to celebrate than with Hawthorne High themed gym clothes. Nike’s new clothing line evokes that retro feeling, with new vintage-inspired high and low top sneakers, in very classic shades of blue& red, as well a featuring Hawkin’s High school colors, green and orange.

The new Nike x Stranger Things line goes further, offering t-shirts, hoodies, and sweatpants with the Hawkins High logo, in case your own school’s logo just isn’t cutting edge enough for you.

Introducing the line, Nike’s website page reads “In the summer of 1985, several transport vehicles departed from Nike HQ in Beaverton, Oregon, carrying special product shipments headed to multiple locations across the US. Unfortunately, a few of the shipments never made it to their destination. These vehicles all had one thing in common…they were last seen on surveillance footage passing through Hawkins, Indiana. Nike, concerned and confused, never mentioned these missing shipments to anyone for fear that something supernatural was at play.”

Apparently, another part of the line is expected to be released later, on July 1st, showcasing some more classic looks for the brand.

If you love vintage-looking high tops, Nike brought back a classic design for this collaboration. Actually, they brought back three classic styles. The Nike x Stranger Things line features the Cortez, Blazer, and Tailwind designs, which Nike originally introduced in the 1980’s. The 70’s and 80’s was a big time for sneakers. For the first time in those two decades, sneakers became more fashion-forward, and Nike was intrumental in pioneering that change.

Nike often collaborates with companies, celebrities, and tv shows to create limited edition clothing and sneakers for fans. Though they’re a corporation who definitely has its fair share of controversy, Nike has made a name for itself in recent years on the social justice front. Nike’s “Dream Crazy” ad featuring Collin Kaepernick won an inaugural Grand Prix at Cannes in a new sports category.

Nike has had a very successful previous financial quarter, and with the success of recent collaborations, Nike is projected to report positive earnings this fiscal year.
