Road transportation accounts for 20% of global emissions. As cities become increasingly congested and the climate crisis continues to be a pressing concern, the need for more efficient cars, not just electrical ones, is imperative. Swiss company TERA Technologies is taking aim at integrating mobility and sustainability with the launch of their low-cost EV, MiracleONE.
Founders Yoann Loetscher and Luca Placi bring more than ten years in the EV space to the table in creating the first two MiracleOne drivable prototypes. Their journey as founders began back at university when the pair successfully created an electric race car team. Then in 2016, they became pioneers in micro-mobility when they launched Enuu, a light electric vehicle-sharing company. It was the first ever worldwide sharing scheme based on small electric 4-wheelers. During their run, they moved 15,000+ people in Switzerland and Germany across four major cities and made 100,000+ rides.
Today, they believe that TERA’s MiracleONE is the right kind of vehicle with a revolutionary charging system and infrastructure that suppresses anxiety over range and charging. While other players in the EV space are limited by conventional designs and charging options, MiracleONE takes a unique approach. Their patent-pending range extension system includes up to four small-size portable batteries in the trunk, and each battery adds an extra 20km (12+ miles) of range and weighs only 9kg (19lbs) for a total 290km range (180 miles). Even more importantly, you can charge these portable batteries anywhere, from your work, home, or any location that has an electrical outlet.
Removing the charging anxiety for urban drivers is only half the battle. Most EVs are still unaffordable, with the average cost of an EV coming in at EV is USD $65,000. The MiracleONE will have a starting price tag of only $25,000, making it one of the most accessible price points on the market.
While they have already secured over €100,000 in future revenue, TERA recently launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise their seed raise and bring EV enthusiasts along for this transformative journey. The Seedrs campaign was fully funded before the 30-day mark and continues to rise. The funds will go toward the company’s goal of delivering 55 limited edition MiracleONE vehicles in 2024.
