Tagir Sitdekov is an experienced senior manager. For many years, he held various positions at investment companies, and now he works at Sistema. The Tagir Sitdekov biography initially involved developing Sistema’s medical assets, and since 2022, he has served as the president of the entire corporation.

Tagir Sitdekov: Education and Early Career

Tagir Sitdekov is 46 years old. In 2001, he received his degree from what is now the Plekhanov University of Economics. 11 years later, Sitdekov Tagir graduated from the Executive MBA program at the Booth Business School in Chicago, which has produced nine Nobel laureates and consistently occupies the top spots in world rankings.

Tagir Sitdekov began his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers, an audit giant and one of the “Big Four” accounting firms. His area of responsibility included mining and energy companies. The Tagir Sitdekov biography was connected with the company until he graduated from college, after which the manager took a position with Creditanstalt Investment Bank. In 2003, Tagir Sitdekov became the financial director at the thermal power plant in Sochi, which was still under construction at the time. The stations’ first two generators were commissioned in December 2004, and in less than 3 months, the TPP was connected to the power line. Sitdekov Tagir Alievich worked at the station for about two years, then the manager decided to move to the investment industry.

Tagir Sitdekov: A New Stage

Sitdekov Tagir started working as the managing partner of Sistema when he was 44. His responsibilities included the corporation’s medical, pharmacological, and biotech assets, represented by Medsi, the largest commercial network clinic in the country; Binnopharm Group, a drug manufacturer; and the Sistema-BioTech laboratory.

In January 2020, the country’s first cases of COVID-19 infection were detected, and by early spring, a 500-bed hospital for those infected with the coronavirus was opened at a Medsi facility in the capital. The hospital was equipped with ventilators, an ICU, and all the necessary equipment and medicines, and all 400 hospital employees received additional training. Sistema also invested in the production of vaccines, test systems, and medical masks, the latter of which were manufactured at its Vologda Textile Factory.

The Tagir Sitdekov biography then involved Sistema’s medical and pharmaceutical assets, which gained momentum under his direction. In mid-2021, the pandemic was still going strong, and the situation required decisive action.

That same year, Medsi opened facilities in Rostov-on-Don and various other cities, and Binnopharm began to expand internationally. Now the company has offices in Kazakhstan, Armenia, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Belarus, and Uzbekistan. Based on its 2022 performance, Binnopharm Group entered Forbes’ ranking of the country’s best employers for the first time.

Tagir Sitdekov AFK Sistema also acquired Nearmedic, which operates in the fields of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and medicine. And in January 2022, the corporation added two more clinic networks to its portfolio: Promeditsina in Ufa and Dialine in Volgograd.

Tagir Sitdekov once told journalists that the pandemic was a serious test that the commercial sector of domestic healthcare managed to pass. The top manager also noted that there was a marked increase in interest for remote medical services. The Tagir Sitdekov biography is largely connected with medical developments, and he has predicted that in the next 5 years the local biotechnology market will reach an annual growth of at least 15%.

Tagir Sitdekov Biography of the President of Sistema

Tagir Sitdekov AFK Sistema was appointed the president of the corporation in the summer of 2022, and under his leadership, it has continued developing the assets that he worked on in his previous position. Thus, by the end of last year, Medsi had grown to include 130 branches, and Tagir Sitdekov AFK Sistema has already managed to open several more this year, including a “close to home” clinic in the capital, a family medical center in Odintsovo, and the fourth Medsi branch in St. Petersburg. Over the past year, Medsi’s revenue has grown by 19.6%, in many ways thanks to the competent management of Tagir Sitdekov.

By 2023, Sistema-Biotech, located in the Mosmedpark biotechnological technopark, could already boast of nine scientific developments, two patents, and 6.5 million tests for various diseases.  

Sitdekov Tagir also heads up the modernization of the Synthesis plant in Kurgan, the largest Binnopharm Group industrial site, including the construction of a 16,000 square meter high-tech warehouse. Part of the equipment at the plant will also be replaced and a new packing line will be unveiled. The work is scheduled to be completed in 2024.

Sitdekov Tagir Alievich has contributed to a significant increase in Binnopharm Group’s financial performance: In 2022, the company’s revenue increased by 12%, while retail sales increased by 34% – three times the market growth.

The Tagir Sitdekov biography also includes charity. In fact, Sistema has had its own charitable foundation since 2004. Under Tagir Sitdekov’s leadership as the head of the foundation’s Board of Trustees, a scholarship program was opened for students through the Elevator to the Future online educational platform. Participants take a series of tests and work with real-life cases. The winning schoolchildren receive 5,000 rubles a month for five months, vocational school students – 7,500 rubles, and college students – 20,000 rubles. The program was launched for the second time this spring, with the age limit raised from 22 to 30.

Sitdekov Tagir is also concerned with other business endeavors within the corporation, including the development of hydrogen technologies, for example. In 2021, Sistema signed an agreement with the Institute of Problems of Chemical Physics of the Academy of Sciences on joint research and development in this field. In March 2023, it signed another agreement with MGIMO and the affiliated International Institute for Energy Policy and Diplomacy. The goals of the cooperation include training specialists in the field of hydrogen technologies and studying relevant international experience.

Tagir Sitdekov AFK Sistema is involved in the emergence of many new industries in the local economy, and now it is working to build a domestic hydrogen market almost from scratch. 

Sitdekov Tagir Alievich oversaw the unveiling of the country’s first multi-layered glued wooden panel apartment buildings, which was carried out by Segezha Group, another of the corporation’s subsidiaries. The complex, built in Sokol, Vologda Region, has 64 apartments in two 4-story buildings with an area of 32,430 sq. ft. It also includes playgrounds, parking lots, and other necessary infrastructure. Future plans include the construction of eco-friendly housing and hotels in other regions, including the capital and the capital region. With the support of Sitdekov Tagir Alievich AFK Sistema founded CLT Development, a construction company focusing on multi-story wooden buildings. 

Tagir Sitdekov AFK Sistema also supervises the company’s work in “traditional” housing construction and the integrated development of territories. For example, the Shagal housing complex is being built in the Southern Administrative District of the capital, and in April of this year, the developer Etalon, another Sistema subsidiary, received permission to erect a kindergarten as part of the complex. The future 46,285 sq. ft.-facility will be able to accommodate up to 270 children aged three to seven. In 2024, once the building is finished, it will be handed over to the city. In total, the Shagal complex will eventually have 6 kindergartens for 1,500 students.

Sitdekov Tagir Alievich is also responsible for Sistema’s share in a large internet marketplace. The company recently opened a hub in Kazakhstan and is currently building a logistics infrastructure in Kyrgyzstan.

Tagir Sitdekov AFK Sistema also works to develop the corporation’s hotel business. In the spring of 2023, the corporation’s Cosmos Hotel Group bought ten hotels in various regions throughout the country, thereby doubling the number of rooms at its facilities. The total area of the buildings exceeds 2,841,650 sq. ft. 

Tagir Sitdekov also works with Sistema’s telecommunications and fintech businesses. In February 2023, an IT subsidiary launched its own contactless payment service.

Tagir Sitdekov: Sustainable Development

Tagir Sitdekov AFK Sistema has the important task of coordinating Sistema’s corporate standards with the ESG (environment, social, governance) agenda. In fact, Sistema was among the first domestic businesses to implement these principles in practice. In 2021, it became one of the 28 founding companies of the National ESG Alliance, conceived as a platform for dialogue between business, society, and government. Today, the organization includes companies with more than one and a half million employees.

Tagir Sitdekov also initiated the adoption of a sustainable development program for the agricultural holding Steppe, which runs through 2030. The agricultural enterprise is actively introducing No-Till technology, which protects the soil from erosion and is expected to use up to 60% less fuel. Other priorities include reducing greenhouse gas emissions, conserving biodiversity, protecting bodies of water, and using alternative sources of electricity. This work is very important to for the Tagir Sitdekov biography, which has included experience with the energy sector in the past.

The Segezha Group, Sistema’s timber enterprise founded in 2014, also has a sustainable development plan that runs through 2025. The strategy provides for decarbonization, the reduction of energy consumption, and other items. Every year, the holding restores 100% of the land it deforests. Thus, last year, Segezha Group planted 173,000 acres of trees – almost twice as much as the year before. Under Tagir Sitdekov, the holding also launched a physical plant in the Vologda Region that operates on waste from its timber production. 

Tagir Sitdekov AFK Sistema has announced that Sistema will continue implementing the ESG agenda in all its businesses from about 20 different industries.
