A new company called Sharkbanz, which was created by a father and son with a love for the ocean, wanted to create something that would help humans and sharks coexist in a better way.

The company, which was founded in 2015 after three years of research, love, and care went into creating a product that would work, no matter what. When a father and son realized that they had a mutual fear of sharks but great love for the ocean, they set out to create something that would keep both them and the animals safe from ever having to cross paths. Thus, Sharkbanz were born. The company was founded on the idea that the technology should be effective, simple, affordable, and stylish.
The wearable bracelets deter sharks using a powerful magnetic field that disrupts a sharks ability to sense nearby food. Since sharks have the strongest electromagnetic sense in the whole animal kingdom, the sensation they feel is roughly the same as having a bright light shined right in your face. It’s not pleasurable or attractive, so the sharks simply swim in the opposite direction to get away from it. It’s also humane, as the sharks won’t be harmed by the effects of a nearby Sharkbanz.
Since sharks are curious creatures, they’re more likely to investigate when they sense that something edible may be nearby. Without Sharkbanz, that could be you. Food (aka living creatures) gives off a weak electrical signal which lets the shark know that it’s got potential as dinner. Something giving off a massive electrical signal would tell the shark that no food is nearby, making it swim in another direction. The electromagnetic signal given off by Sharkbanz does exactly this.

Obviously Sharkbanz aren’t going to guarantee total safety from one of nature’s most terrifying creatures. They will, however, do their best to deter a shark from attacking.
