Sunday Sesh: New Eminem and More!

Published on December 20, 2020

On this edition of the Sunday Sesh, we take a look at two deluxe editions and two singles. We are vibe jumping this week, going from the Bay to the UK, hip-hop to dubstep, and of course, checking out Eminem’s surprise album. We start things off with Eminem’s Music To Be Murdered By Side B (Deluxe Edition), before taking in some throwback California vibes with Too $hort & E-40’s ‘Triple Gold Sox’. Then, we check out Cowboys and Idiots (Deluxe Edition) from the UK’s Monster Florence, before wrapping things up with ‘Powa’, a dubstep headbanger from Zed’s Dead & Peekaboo. Enjoy!

Eminem – Music To Be Murdered By Side B (Deluxe Edition)

Eminem did it again! He is back with another surprise album release. Music To Be Murdered By Side B (Deluxe Edition) is a massive release, featuring a jaw-dropping 36 tracks. This release is prototypical Eminem. It isn’t anything particularly different, but it doesn’t really need to be. If you’re a fan of Eminem’s older work, this release is for you.

It is hard to pick one track to feature, as the whole album features a variety of beats and vibes, all of which are worth listening to. I decided to go with ‘Alfred’s Theme’ for its bouncy beat and Slim Shady wordplay. Check out the full release on YouTube Music.

Too $hort & E-40 – Triple Gold Sox

Too $hort and E-40 released this collab ahead of their heavily hyped Verzuz battle. The battle was a very fun one, especially for the Bay Area. ‘Triple Gold Sox’ is a pure Bay Area throwback rinsed with modern production. This is one to bounce to. To go stupid, dumb and hyphy to. Enjoy!

Monster Florence – Cowboys and Idiots (Deluxe Edition)

British hip-hop/grime collective, Monster Florence, have released the deluxe edition of their Cowboys and Idiots EP. The deluxe edition includes the unreleased track, ‘F***ing Hell’ which we included above, as well as eight live performances at London’s Abbey Road. ‘F***ing Hell’ is an atmospheric hip-hop track with spaced out synths and a smooth bassline. The group shows off their writing skills on this one, and this is just one of the many flavors on the album. Check out the full release on Spotify.

Zeds Dead & Peekaboo – Powa

Zeds Dead and Peekaboo have joined forces to release this utterly filthy dubstep track. ‘Powa’ is a heavy headbanger that oscillates back and forth between blood-curdling basslines and teeth-rattling mid-ranges. If you’re a fan of both artists, you can almost track each side’s contribution to the tune. This is a must-have for bass heads everywhere.
