For the last 145 years, Japanese cosmetic line Shiseido has remained on top of the beauty industry.
To celebrate the launch of their Color Gel Lip Balm, and WASO inspired product line, the brand hosted its second annual Beach House Party in Malibu. This past weekend, Hollywood influencers and beauty experts, flocked to a secret location where they enjoyed the latest innovative beauty products. Grit Daily showed up, too.
Day 1
On Friday May 31st, Shiseido kicked off this celebration by highlighting their WASO line, inspired by Japanese Superfood. Senior Writer at the LA Times Food Section, Jenn Harris, introduced celebrity chef Shirley Chung, who showcased how to create her famous honey-roasted heirloom carrots with whipped tofu and yuzu aioli.
As she candidly discussed the history of the dish, and it’s ingredients, she broke down the correlation between it and the WASO product line. Shiseido’s Clear Mega-Hydrating Cream for instance, is infused with Ninjin carrot, a Japanese superfood that keeps skin looking healthy and hydrated. Chung used those same type of carrots to make her famous vegan wontons for attendees to enjoy.
Shortly after, a private cocktail mixer and dinner was held with celebrity entrepreneur Stephanie Shepherd. This two-part event started with a tonic mixer at Malibu Beach House, and ended with a private dinner at Nobu restaurant in Malibu. While there attendees discussed the creativity behind the WASO Skin Care Products.
Day 2
On Saturday the beauty giants focused on the launch of their Color Gel Lip Balm. Shisheido teamed up with Desi Perkins for an intimate brunch, with her and some of the industry’s top makeup influencers.
During the evening, influencers gathered at the beach house for a night of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and dancing. They also had the chance to get their lip read by an on site fortune teller, to see which Color Gel Lip Balm, fitted them the best. Some notable guests that were in attendance include Adrienne Bailon, Gigi Gorgeous, Nazanine Pimentel, and Laura Lee — to name a few.
DJ Haute brought the party to the beach with her electric sounds, as laughter and joy filled the Beach House. Goodies were provided by SH-RD USA, and Vita Parfum, furthering Shiseido’s mission to spread beauty in a universal way.
Shiseido ambassador Jamie Chung who was also in attendance exclaimed that “Shiseido is about beauty being in everything. They are so keen on specificity and everything having a purpose which is what I love about Shiseido.”
Day 3
To close out this star studded event, the Shiseido team hosted a brunch and boat ride, to showcase Shiseido’s Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion WetForce SPF+ and Shiseido Clear Stuck UV Protector WetForce SPF 50+. During the afternoon, guests gathered for a day of exercise and paddle boarding, decked out in Spiritual Gangster and O’Neil wetsuits. PopSugar Fitness Guru Anna Renderer, and influencer Katrina Bowden, gave guests a memorable experience to continue the fight against obesity.
As participants, powered through a sweat session, enjoying Proud Source Water, they were gifted with the #1 Sun care leader line by Shiseido. Following the work out, celebrity Catt Sadler hosted a special brunch to discuss her newly launched podcast, Naked with Catt Sadler.
