Finding investors for a business is always harder for women, which is why Lisa Wang created SheWorx, a company dedicated to helping female entrepreneurs find success.
SheWorx recently announced its 2019 list of “boot camp” participants, offering these 19 women business owners the expertise, community, and help they need to take off.
According to the SheWorx website, “SheWorx arose from a profound need to empower women in a 94% male-dominated investment landscape. Founder & CEO Lisa Wang wanted help women draw upon their existing strengths and develop skills to face said challenges head on. This mentality gave rise to SheWorx and our core values called the “Triple A values”: Altruism, Ambition, and Action” — encouraging an inclusive, collaborative community where everyone’s voice is heard.”
Out of this idea, the fast track boot camp was born. It’s a ten-week program designed to help women better navigate the world of fundraising. By gathering a “curated” group of other business owners, they learn from the teachers as well as each other. Plus, each individual gets one-on-one sessions with Wang for greater success.
Female business owners and entrepreneurs can contact SheWorx and schedule a coaching or strategy call to improve their presentation, leadership strategies, or fundraising methods. Calls are led by experts in their field and other business owners.
SheWorx founder, Lisa Wang, is a former Olympic rhythmic gymnast and four-time U.S. champion. Now, Wang is focusing her fame, time, and efforts on helping other women get what they need to succeed. Already a public speaking coach and moderator, Wang also has a podcast where you can tune in and pick up on some of her secrets to success.
In an interview with Startups.com, Wang explained her process for finding investors.
“We currently reach 20,000+ women, in 7 cities, and have hosted 100+ events around the world connecting women to mentors and investors… Every month, we start our local breakfast roundtable discussions hosted in each city with 30 founders and a mentor (investor partner, sr. exec. or serial founder), focused on actionable, tangible topics on building your company. We also have our conference called the SheWorx100 Summit series, which brings together 200 female founders and 35+ top investors to build meaningful collaborative relationships that lead to real investment in female-founded companies.”
