Now, if I can say, I feel like working out has become more popular now that most places are closed and events have been canceled. I mean, I know it’s already a “thing” but I feel like being in quarantine has opened people’s eyes when it comes to working on their health. I know many friends of mine who are avid couch potatoes have told me that they just had the motivation to work out all of a sudden and have stuck with it since then.
Speaking for myself, I have danced my whole life, and in high school, I was in color guard with the marching band, so my form of workouts has always been enforced.
With my guard coach and dance teacher on me about my workouts in class, that was technically my only form of workouts, and I never entered a gym. Since graduating and not doing color guard and not dancing as much, I knew I needed to start doing some form of workout while in quarantine, and that’s what I did.
I’ll be the first to say I hate workouts, but for some reason, I’m motivated and excited to get up and workout. It may seem challenging, but all you have to do is pace yourself and start easy, and that’s what I did, so if you want to start easy, here are some beginner workouts you should try.
YOGA
For all, you first time “yogis” out there this workout is for you. You can upscale yoga and feel like it was a hardcore workout once you finish, but first, we will start with this one.
HIIT
Also known as High Intensity Interval Training, this beginner workout can be done anywhere. Yes, you can start slow with this type of workout. It will be intense but not as crazy as some stuff you see online where people feel like they are going to fall apart. We aren’t there yet.
BARRE
This is for my dancers out there, or whoever wants to try out this workout. Barre is one of my favorite type of workout. It incorporates movement from ballet. Trust me; you will get your workout in and its a great beginner workout because it’s more effective than it feels at the time.
ZUMBA
Zumba is another one of my favorite workouts. My advice is that if you’re ever afraid to start working out in general and feel self-conscious, do a Zumba workout. This workout is fun and free, and you can dance to the beat of your drum.
CARDIO
Any good cardio session that gets your heart rate up is always a good workout. Ensuring that you are getting the right amount of cardio into your workout is beneficial and makes you feel much better in the end.
STRENGTH TRAINING
Want to build those muscles and not only become physically stronger but mentally as well here you go. This workout will test your strength but also build you up mentally.
FULL BODY
If you can’t decide what to do or what to work out, then a refreshing full-body workout will always do the trick. You don’t have to worry about what you’re going to work out that day because it will be everything.
