It is not often you come across an indie artist whose beauty and brains matches their talent. That is the case for rising R&B songbird Gabrielle Lynn. She is proving to be one of the most promising R&B acts to date, having generated more than a million streams on Spotify without being signed to a record label. Lynn is working under the wing of Grammy Award Winning producer Riotheyneedahit, and these two have created an original sound that cannot be duplicated. As Lynn returns to the music scene with her new “Change A Thing” visual, she allows onlookers to see her in a light never seen before.
I had the pleasure of engaging in a candid conversation with Gabrielle Lynn to discuss her new visual, being a mother in the music business, and her branding partnership with Core Foods. Get to know more about this songstress by viewing the full interview below.
GD: What drove you to want to create a record like “Change A Thing”?
Lynn: I think a lot of us have struggled with a lack of confidence and some form of identity crisis throughout our lives because I certainly have. After a lot of self love and personal growth, I love who I am now. I have grown to be a woman that I am very proud of, and proud of the example I am setting for my daughters. I believe “Change A Thing” is a confidence anthem for me, and while I always want to grow as a person, I wouldn’t change the core of who I am.
GD: What was the inspiration behind your new visual for “Change A Thing” as you are seen in a different light?
Lynn: Rio and I thought it would be fun to take a different approach to this video showing a more natural side of myself. I didn’t really want to think in this video too much. I just wanted to go with the flow of the day and have fun.
GD: With celebrity moms such as Cardi B and Nicki Minaj, why did you feel it necessary to show the world that you are mother now, in your new visual? How do you find balance as a mother and artist?
Lynn: Being a mother is the biggest blessing in my life and I am always mom even when I am working. I don’t think it is a matter of being “necessary” to have them in this video, I just wanted to include my daughters in this fun video.
GD: Talk about your branding partnership with Core Foods.
Lynn: Core Foods has been wonderfully kind to send me some core bars that are amazing, quick and healthy snacks to include into my growing schedule.
GD: How does being allergic to gluten play a role in your creative process?
Lynn: It doesn’t really affect my creative process. I am used to bringing my own snacks or finding food suitable to my diet. Having a healthy diet is important to keeping my mind clear to create.
GD: How has life been like since finding success on your Irresistible EP?
Lynn: Life is still great. I am happy and feel so thankful that I get to continue doing what I love.
GD: When is up next for Gabrielle Lynn?
Lynn: I am currently working on a new project that I am looking forward to. Hopefully I will be releasing it in the next coming weeks.
GD: How can readers stay up to date with all that you will do musically?
Lynn: Instagram and music streaming services are the best ways to stay connected to my work.
