Porter Robinson Will Release A New Album

Published on January 30, 2021

Porter Robinson will be releasing a new album for the first time in seven years. Millennials of a certain age will no doubt be intrigued by the fact that this progressive/electro house mainstay will be releasing a full length album in 2021. The upcoming album, Nurture, will be released on April 23rd 2021, and is the follow up to his debut album, Worlds, which was released in 2014.

Prior to 2014, Robinson had been making major waves with his remix work as well as his single track and EP releases. We have not heard much from Robinson over the past few years, but the fact that his is releasing a full-length LP is a testament to the work that he has been putting in.

He has released a single off of the forthcoming Nurture, a melodic and pulsing electro house track called “Look At The Sky.” The song not only transports listeners like me back to the simpler times of the early 2010’s when Robinson was a household name, but every element of the track itself is truly uplifting. Robinson achieved the sonic equivalent of a Prozac prescription with “Look At The Sky” and it is a refreshing change of pace as much as it is a borderline time capsule.

In a press release, Robinson commented on the meaning behind the song, saying that this was a song that was all about hope.

There’s no shortage of fuel for despair, but you can’t take meaningful action to improve things if you don’t have some belief that things might get better. That’s what hope is, and I think it’s an emotion worth nourishing. I wrote this song at my lowest point emotionally, when I thought I couldn’t make music anymore, and I wasn’t sure if my existence would have any meaning if I couldn’t make music. In the lyrics, I’m sort of imagining what life would be like once I was on the other side of all that fear and anxiety and sadness. I’m happy to report that it’s amazing on the other side of all this, and I’m so glad I had hope and persisted.

Robinson achieved his goal of creating a hopeful and uplifting track in spades with “Look At The Sky.” Check out the song below and keep an eye out for Nurture to drop on April 23rd.
