Phoebe Waller-Bridge of Fleabag fame is launching her own production company called Wells Street Films.
The television and film production company will be based in the UK and will house Waller-Bridge’s various projects with Amazon and beyond.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge is a British actress, writer, and producer. She created, wrote, and starred in Fleabag. She was also an executive producer on the first season of the award-winning thriller Killing Eve.
Of her new production company, Waller-Bridge said in a very on-brand statement,
“This has been a lifelong dream and to say ‘I’m excited’ is an understatement. Thank you, Amazon, for making this possible, and thank you to Jenny and Char for coming on board. I can’t wait to start making new work. In the words no one wanted me to put in my press release: Let’s f**k s**t up!
Wells Street Films has already begun acquiring talented staff. Jenny Robins will be the head of television and film. She worked with Waller-Bridge on both the second season of Fleabag and the first season of Killing Eve.
Charlotte McBrearty, who also worked on Fleabag, will come aboard Wells Street Films as a development executive.
No details are available on where the production company’s name comes from.
The launch comes after a remarkably successful awards season for Waller-Bridge. She and her show, Fleabag, have won numerous awards, including the Critic’s Choice Awards for Best Comedy and Best Actress in a Comedy Series. Waller-Bridge has also won Golden Globe and Screen Actor’s Guild Awards for Fleabag this year.
2020 is shaping up to be a really good year for Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
