Take a Look at the ‘One World: Together at Home’ Global Special Lineup

Published on April 15, 2020

The One World: Together at Home event set for this Saturday night will feature over 70 artists from different parts of the entertainment industry.

Global Citizen, the World Health Organization (WHO) and Lady Gaga first announced the event earlier this month; the special will raise awareness about the current Coronavirus pandemic and also raise money to fund protective equipment and aid healthcare professionals.

In a call with the WHO, Lady Gaga sent her gratitude to those working on the frontline to help combat the Coronavirus. Hugh Evans, Global Citizen’s Co-Founder and CEO, also stated that celebrating these workers serves as a crucial component to the special and that it also aims to serve as a source of unity and encouragement in the global fight to end COVID-19.

One World follows in the footsteps of the current Together at Home series put on by Global Citizen and the WHO. The daily, virtual concerts feature live-streamed performances from several artists; Coldplay’s Chris Martin, John Legend and many more have already taken part in these efforts to help relieve some of the stress surrounding COVID-19 and promote social distancing.

Who to Expect on One World

As stated previously, we have a long list of artists joining in with Lady Gaga for the One World: Together at Home event; from singers to actors to comedians, the entertainment world is truly coming together to help in the fight against COVID-19.

The list includes Andrea Bocelli, Alicia Keys, Ellen DeGeneres, Billie Eilish, David and Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Lopez, Kacey Musgraves, Celine Dion, Lupita Nyong’o, Oprah Winfrey, Taylor Swift, Matthew McConaughey, The Killers, Niall Horan and many more. Additionally, K-Pop megagroup SuperM and the cast of Sesame Street will also take part in the event.

What Is Global Citizen?

I mentioned Global Citizen quite a bit in this piece, but you may be reading this and have no idea about what Global Citizen is or what they do.

Global Citizen is an organization set out to take on the world’s biggest challenges and solve them. The group’s main goal is to work together to end extreme poverty by 2030, but they also focus on topics such as health, education, women’s rights and many more.

According to their website, anyone can become a global citizen by simply downloading their mobile app. For every action you take, from tweeting about certain issues to signing petitions and more, you earn points. As you earn said points, they also add up and allow you to redeem them for rewards.

I believe that Global Citizen’s Together at Home series is a great way to help relieve some of the anxious feelings some may have, as our normal way of living as changed for the time being. As any forms of entertainment can be healing, it allows people to disconnect from reality for a bit and take a breather from what is happening on the outside.

Furthermore, their One World global special is great way to unite the world with music and entertainment and also thank and support those who have been working to fight against the Coronavirus epidemic all over the world.
