New to Netflix this week to stream

Published on December 28, 2020

Netflix is kicking off the new year in a big way. The streaming service is adding a long list of movies and shows to begin 2021. Today alone, the company started streaming one of the most imaginative animated studio movies from the last decade, Rango. It’s such a beautiful, oddball western directed by Gore Verbinski.

On one of the final days of 2020, Netflix is releasing the final episodes of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. The series has its fans, but surprisingly, Netflix announced season four was its last. Reviews were strong for the show, too. With its high production value, though, maybe the show is too costly for Netflix given its undisclosed ratings. Another popular series with another season available this week: Cobra Kai. It’s a favorite among Karate Kid fans.

As for movies, there are not too many highly-anticipated originals coming to the streaming service in the new year. However, plenty of familiar favorites are available in the next week. Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas and The Departed, Steven Spielberg’s Catch Me If You Can, and Clint Eastwood’s Mystic River are coming to Netflix. Bonnie and Clyde and Mud as well will be available. There are plenty of great films, including Superbad, to revisit or discover, not to mention the wonderful Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

If you’re looking for more lighter films to unwind to, there’s 17 Again, Sherlock Holmes, and 30 Minutes or Less. They’re perfectly enjoyable fluff. There are the Sex and the City movies available, as well, for any fans of those characters in need of revisiting them.
